well I haven't given up, it's just been so dang cold and wet (and icy, odd for Texas) outside, and this weekend is going to be the same.. "high of 40 with rain". Glad i don't have that hydraulic pump there to deal with..
Has anyone ever removed the oil pressure sender from an engine and noticed if the passage is large enough to support pre-oiling through the 'hole'? Granted it won't fill up the filters much but it would oil up the engine.
Driving my heavied deuce on road in the rain soon convinced me to use semi-truck steer-tires. The behavior difference between NDCC and a good on-highway radial with a tube is phenominal, (as well as about $125/tire assuming finding 11.00x20's new for $175)
Hmm. I wonder how easy it is to get to either end of the main oil gallery, and if there is a hex-type plug there to unscrew. That would be a place to plumb a preluber into. I note the oil pressure sender is also mounted suspiciously near the main gallery. How about there?
Mine did this when they were getting worn out. Not all belts are created equal, including how easy to put on! Lemme go out in the cold and note the exact kind of belt I was easily able to install. BRR.. OK, :

direction of flow?? so THAT'S why my heater keeps bowing freezing cold air at me in the summer! If only I had known..
Seriously, the top of the case of the heater can be opened with some screws if I am not mistaken, and you can examine the heater core to discern the actual fow.. Might have to...
if it tends to separate, then it would be easy to draw off, but that's probably not the case.. if put in the tank during a time when the engine has been running, and running it till it's gone, the constant agitation and circulation should keep it mixed. Maybe the people in charge of the process...
I like where cranetruck's backup light is, I think that would be on the under-bed strut?
I used a battery and tried 2 kinds of powerful lights cheaply available from auto parts stores. They are chrome but either could be painted OD to remove the bling effect. Picked up a pair of clear...
RE: Re: RE: It
wouldn't that be a bit top-heavy? Similarly I worry about top-heaviness in my deuce with 6000LBS of S-280 in the back. How far tilted over can these high vehicles like the ambulance go without rolling?
I thought the ticking was two separate ticks of the same type, instead of one. I hate to say that, but I surely do not know where it is coming from. If I recall it was there after the fuel was shut off and also while cranking so maybe it is a valvetrain thing. The mention of low oil pressure...
I believe there are two errors in the "240 VOLT 1 PHASE CONNECTION" diagram in the MEP-016B manual (TM 5-6115-615-12).
1. Two T-2's are shown. The terminals should probably read, from left to right:
T-1 T-4 T-2 T-5 T-6 T-3
.. although any arrangement of the coils which gives the same...
I got a nice long horn from a train. The diaphram is larger than the deuce horn, and also the trumpet is about 30". I tested it by connecting it to a propane bottle and blowing it that way, and it had a very deep tone. Then I thought it would be cool to light it. It was but don't do it in the house.
when I was at Clark truck parts looking a a pile of 5-ton locker center differential pieces, was told that they have many 5-ton lockers because customers don't want them because they breal axles with them. I assume these are the customers using the trucks for work. Not sure if their price for...
RE: Re: 15K Diesel Gen set
If I had an MEP-xxx set to play with, I would be glad to figure out and document the means of making 120/240v 3-wire single phase from it. But I think there's enough here. Also, according to the Stewart-Stevenson nameplate data indicating it has a 120V outlet and...
I did not mean to hijack the thread, did you have time to check the alternator for the number of wires coming from the stator?
also similar model?

attachment is the zipfiles of schematics showing switching and current flow highlighted for each mode of the MEP-017 and the file 240V_1phase.gif shows where to check for a "neutral" when the set is set to 240V single phase. I suggest the neutral is the T5-T6 conection. I suggest the MEP-016 can...
Ok I see the point. They do not make single phase 120V and 240V at the same time. In that case, the above reconnection diagram could apply. The AC gensets I mentioned all show to be three-coil, six-wire sets. Trying to study the manuals from a standpoint of changing a wire or two and having...
