I pulled both relays off. The one over the fuel filter says 80 12 volt on the bottom not 85. I don't want to damage anything so is this 80 not useable?
Thanks
I have what looks to be an extra glow plug relay mounted over the fuel filter. I would leave well enough alone but my batterys aren't holding a charge and the wait light isn't staying on long enough when the truck is cold, it can be hard to start. Anyone seen this set up?
Thanks to you all of you for the suggestions. I'm not missing the spacer and the belt looks aligned. I will try sanding. I stretched one belt completely out by tightening it over and over until it ran out of adjustment. The right side belt doesn't make as much contact with the pulley making it...
I've read alot about this subject, but I can't seem to stop the belt squeeling. I've put on new belts. Gotten them very tight, tight to the point of worrying about alt bearing failure. The squeeling will stop for a few starts, but comes right back and the belts are still very tight. I seem to be...
When parked on an incline with the nose up the truck starts runs maybe 10 seconds then dies. Then is very difficult to re-start. I don't seem to get this on the flat. Once it restarts it runs fine. While trying to re-start it I have checked the fuel filter bleeder and there is pressure there...
I was wondering how important it is to have batterys that are equal in capacity and cranking amps? If they can be different, is there a rule or % that they should fall in? When 2 12v's are combined to make 24v.
I'm wanting to do what you guys have done but thought I might fit in a smaller...
That's it 319, that's the piece in your picture! I will be removing mine also. Good to know its original use. Anyone come up with a use for it off the trailer?
This question may be difficult without a picture, but I recently bought one of these trailers from GL and it had a rack with a crank mounted on the front of the bed. There were other M116a2 trailers in the same sale some had it some didn't. Can anyone tell me what this was used for? Did it hold...
I have never had a problem with anything I bought with them. I have taken chances and paid too much for a rusty truck before. While their descriptions are short they only state facts they won't mention rust or degrees of it. For instance in an auction going on now they say "no sound when start...
Some guys that normally bid at the last second may have noticed that everything was extended. That could account for some of the late bidding. No doubt GL and Uncle Sam came out better by extending. They got no extra bids from me. I had 3 trailers at the 1st closing yesterday and 1 today. I...
The fact that GL extended all these auctions just minutes before they closed is what makes their reason stated for doing it a lie in my book. So far I lost 1 trailer on late bidding. Gl will make more $ on this ploy, I hope its not worth all of the bad feelings they generated about it and don't...
Whatever trailer you use you should respect the GVW of your truck. Especially on a long trip. A willys MB was meant to pull a 1/4 ton trailer back in WWII, so limiting a M1009 to 1/4 ton trailer now seems overly conservative. Pay attention to how you load your trailer will add to the safety...
My M1009 hadn't been started in about 4 years. It had some water in the crankcase probably from condensation. Did you change the oil before starting it? After mine started the ldle speed varied alot. It would race and die alot before it settled out. The linkage at the pump was real stiff too...
Michael, If all the glow plugs and connectons are working correctly how many volts are each recieving? If one burns out then how many volts would each plug recieve? When 2 burn out does the voltage to the remaining go up again? Or is it that the voltage remains constant when a plug burns out but...
I had the same problem with 4 wellmans burning out the first week. I'm not sure it was the plugs fault. My connectors to the plugs seemed very weak. I replaced those and put in some old plugs that were still good and have been fine since. I thought there was 24 volts going to all the plugs...
