    New York Questions..

I have to get mine registered soon and pick out insurance. I told my insurance company (State Farm) that JC taylor quoted me $93 a year for insurance for the "72 AM General".State farm then said they could do the same coverage with collision, glass, comprehensive for $128 a year. State Farm...

    Diesel exhaust color meaning?

I guess this is on the same topic, but do you guys think a K&N airfilter in a deuce would help it out a lot vs. a new stock filter? I believe the stock filter was rated at 420 CFM according to the TM. I should crunch the numbers and see what the engine's CFM is at 2400rpm and see how it relates...

M818 engine exhaust burns eyes and found a little oil in coolant

Im still new at deuces but i wonder if a compression test radiator pressure test would point to anything. I've seen little pumps that replace radiator caps to pressure check. I've worked on a lot of gas jobs, i know its not the same as a diesel, but would the exhaust smell sweet, the same as a...

    ARB Air Locker

Im not an expert on this, but it dosnt seem like it would be that complicated per say. I mean that in a nice way. Of course it take a lot of thinking but I would think it could be done. just find out what the max pressure is for the ARB's and regulate it. Maybe tap off the line under the dash...

    Deuce RPM Idling too Fast

Check to make sure your throttle linkage is not obstructed and moves freely. Maybe something is worn with the linkage not allowing it to move all the way back up. 1500-1700rpms seems really high....high enough where it would be too fast for the idle speed on the injection pump. also try moving...

    Any Pics/Info of a 5.9 Cummins install?

My dad's friend has a 5.9, and i think its a 12 valve. He was going to put it in a jeep, but since sold the jeep. Im just getting ideas. what about putting in a a GM 6.2 or a 6.5. i believe the 6.2 is a turbo? Are these decent engines and is the bell housing the common GM style? What would be...

    Any Pics/Info of a 5.9 Cummins install?

I have looked on the site for a while and havent found any pictures or a lot of information about swapping a 5.9 in a Deuce. As you guys can see, im a new guy and still learning a lot with deuces. My dad and i have built street rods and such, so i have a general idea about re-powering...

    Any events near Binghamton NY?

Anybody know if there are any rallys going on in New York State this year? I am fairly new to the site and would like to get more involved and see what the rallys are all about if they were close to home. I like how everybody is so friendly and accepts anybody MV's no matter what they are or...

What do you think of this Deuce? (pictures and starting video)

Im with you gunboy, sounds like he used either quite a bit to start it....that would make me nervous. Maybe the truck has old fuel in it and thats why it is hard to start? How much do you think this truck would be worth if it was an M35A2, treated the exact same? basically, how much more value...

    Deuces hard on asphalt?

Then again we could look at it another way...if we do tear up asphalt with our deuces, maybe the asphalt needed to be replaced anyway! hahaha!....then again, might be replaced on our dime, that wouldnt be fun. It would be Murphey's law....we'd be doing a favor for somebody and end up tearing a...

    Deuces hard on asphalt?

I was wondering how deuces (M35A2 W/W) are on asphalt? Nothing more fun that cruzing around in the deuce and stopping to visit some friends at their house. My only concern is pulling in my driveway or somebody elses and leaving ruts in the driveway if its hot out or something. I would emagine...

    Lockout hub problem

You dont have locking diffs, correct? Could you try jacking up the center axle spin the wheels by hand to see if you feel anything in the driveline? I am intrested because I would like to do the same mod as you someday.

feel free to kick me out if you wish ...

I say go for it! nothing better creating something your very own and you would have the only one out there like it! A wise man once said, "Any man can restore a car, but it takes a real man to cut one up." :D

    Cheap 24VDC Battery Tender?

I was looking on surpluscenter.com and came across this battery charger for lawnmowers. Its 24VDC, would this be a cheap alternative to a battery tender? It only puts out 32 watts, which is only .75 amps. That would be good enough to keep batterys charged up in the winter months. I know it would...

Using the deuce for emergency power generation

I thought i rememeber seeing a thread where there was one alternator that had 24v and 12v outputs....like one alternator behind another one maybe? if you had one of those and then maybe where would be enough room to install a small generator off the engine and inly use it when the engine is at...

Which data plate am I missing here?

I have seen the rifle racks bolted to those holes. i would think they use the holes as pilot holes to use 1/4-20 hardware to bolt it to. Could be other data plates too i suppose

    Extra Fuel Tank

I thought of that idea also, mounting one where the spare tire is. Would a deuce tank fit there? maybe the frame rails are simetrical and its just a bolt in swap? Older Chevy trucks had a simple electric switch on the dash that could switch from tank to tank and also switch sending units so the...

    Fiberglass Hard Top

What is better about fiberglass than steel? Noise reduction, better insulation? If the prices are about the same for both, steel is real, right? Im relativly new to deuces, so im learning here! :-P

    engine alternatives for the deuce?

what about one of the newer computer controled cummins 5.9? Im not a diesel expert, but my buddy has one in his dodge truck with a chip that he can control. would that be nice to be able to get the fuel milage when you want it then crank the chip up and make some smoke? I believe you have to get...
