M1009 650 miles in one day

Last year I went 1800 miles in my M1028A2 in four days. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cucv/37101-1800-miles-no-license-plates-half-pack-smokes.html And drove it 1000 miles in two days, recovering my second M1009...

    3/4 wrench

You will now understand WHY I like my GEAR seat covers so much. A pouch FOR your tools, including a set of sockets. You need a place where you can store your tools and have them handy. Nothing worse than having to dig them out of a bag in the rear of the truck (where I keep OTHER stuff)...

    M1028 off road

I flat LOVE the chain on the REAR of the truck. EDIT: Ok, watched it a second time and you have chains on front AND the rear. What an excellent idea. And your is the first I've seen with the lift shackles painted red. I think I like it. And I LOVE the fact that you ended up going OVER that...

    Can you spin tire?

My M1028A2 can and does donuts in loose dirt, gravel, slick road (water or ice), snow, etc. Straight line, I can get a chirp in second. I can squeal rubber around corners every time because of the rear locker. But like everyone says here, TIRES AIN'T CHEAP. Especially if you replace eight of...

    New Camo Job

You need to do the front grill and push bar. That kills the overall 'disappearing' type look. But other than that... THAT IS ONE SWEET LOOKING PAINT JOB. Very good. Love how it blends in and basically disappears.

    M1028 off road

IF you do take the hub apart, depending on how far you disassemble it, you need to understand the the HUB on any CUCV are NOT the same as it's civi counter part. I replaced my front brakes from the spindle out. TRUST ME. It's not easy if you don't know the trick. You can get down to the...

    M1009 clevis

What part of your truck came with clevis pins? The only clevis pins I've seen DO NOT rotate freely. For example, my medium tow bar has several clevis pins and NONE of them rotate freely. The ability to have them fold over and stay in place is a positive. The pins holding the lift shackle...

M1028 Cab Wiring Harness/ Electrical issue

I bought a wiring harness off of ebay, it was a pull out. I got it for $25 plus s&h. They are out there. Ebay is your friend for pulled off parts. Can't answer your question because I have NOT actually used the wiring harness. Opened it when it arrived and it seems ok, but it sits in that...

    CUCV Never Ending Problems

Hoolio, Come on H, if you weren't spending time and money on this vehicle, it would just be another one. I'm 57 and have two M1009's and an M1028A3. The best part about these trucks is I CAN work on them. You can't say that about a lot of trucks these days without investing lots of $$$ in...

No fuel to filter at first

Don't forget your fuel filter mounting plate can leak air. Making it VERY difficult to start. So, keep an eye out. If starting becomes difficult again, go through the same procedure you just did. OH, I have installed a 6psi electric fuel pump up under the passenger side rail. There is...

    just thinking outloud

It's an aluminum rear body. TRUST ME. You don't want to add that much weight to an aluminum body without completely reinforcing the box. I don't really know what to suggest for you. The M1031 will do a lot of things, but I think it would be the wrong platform for the crane idea. Now, adding...

    More Alternator/Electrical Questions

That 30 amp fuse is CRITICAL to your system. Make sure you use a clean fuse and that the spot it goes into is also clean. I had that fuse pop in one of my vehicle. Once I figured it out and cleaned it up, my problem was resolved. So check that 30 amp fuse and replace it.
