Ah...you come down 225 to 322? After you come down over the mountain about a mile before the highway look for the for sale sign--that's my house. Truck farm is up 322 about 20 miles.
The 14.5R20's your looking at- are they in the 43-44" range? I'm pretty sure my buddy has a set of them on...
Wait- Are you thinking of putting that big winch from the link on the nose of your deuce? Admirable...but WAY TOO BIG. I've got a 20,000# Garwood on mine from the nose of a 5 ton truck but I've got it set back due to the V-style engine I swapped in and the ability to move the radiator back...
One of the reasons I had brought this up was because of my big M715 (Velvet) that has Rockwells and 46" XML's on it. This truck has the 3053A and a 427 Big Block Chevy Tall Deck engine probably at 250-260hp...not gonna set the world on fire. I had driven this truck on the road with 1100x20...
Bear with me on this at first-
So we've got 6.72's in the axles, and overdrive around .85:1 and NDT's at 38-39".
6.72, 39" tire, 55mph, .85 OD= 2,707rpm at 55mph.
Now slap on 46" XL's or XML's (for all the right reasons) and we end up here:
6.72, 46" tire, 55mph, .85 OD= 2,295rpm at 55mph...
That looks to be the same winch alright but with the level wind moved to the forward position and I'd be the worm drive is coming in from the opposite side.
What air pressure? I chunked a 1100x20 Goodyear Extra Grip on a hot day but it was because I was running too low an air pressure. Low pressure and heavy truck will build a LOT of tire heat and possibly cause seperation AND mine were not recaps.
Biggest single you can swing with the stock suspension is a 15.50-R20 XL or 395/85R20 XML. They're both 46" and fit but the down side is a custom wheel of some sort needs to be used with a 10" minimum width.
Ah...what a delighful post!
One additional note on the wheels that Denial (I call him that as it's his most active trait) built for me for the Top Truck Challenge event; they were not straight. I have not yet seen a straight and 100% true running double beadlock 20" wheel from him. I don't...
Feed mill was closed last weekend. Yes, the Grove M977 does have the capability of being swung around and somewhat nested longways in the truck. It doesn't have any realy positive stops in that position like it has sideways and fully dropped though...doubt that would be a problem anyway. I'm...
I *think* it's a 1250x20 XL that a few people have outfitted their trucks with. But, they're only around 40" tall. An 1100x20 will be about on the nut at 42" tall. Guys have run each of these in single and dual applications though in dual applications the question comes up about sidewall to...
M135 and M34 are all the same width. They are the old single style with the center positioned to offset the wheel (can) outward to widen the stance a couple inches per side. It's definately NOT a good idea to put the 395's on them. Ah, yeah...and aside from the fact that you'll need some...
As far as movement of the axle and it's compression of that jackshaft...I'd think that on flat ground the shaft is going to be as compressed as it's going to. Any movement up or down of either axle, or both, is going to have the slip yoke pulling apart. The only time I can figure that they'd...
I put 10 more gallons of hyd oil in it tonight and it ran REAL good then. It actually moves very well, I've got no speed complaints whatsoever. I extended the boom the whole way out tonight, then hooked to the pintle of my big Rockwelled M715 and picked up the back end without it even...
PICTURE TIME! The boom is still about 3' from being fully extended and is know where near being fully raised.
Kenny- Crane weighs 2940# by itself and I'm not sure what the outrigger assy weighs but I'd put it around 800#'s. I should be under 4,000 for the whole deal.
Bjorn- Pic 5 will...
