This is exactly the guidance I was looking for I will hit it when I get home. Great news on flight school if you get MEDEVAC they rock. Be careful in SWA I got back from 13 months there in July and know the deal keep your eyes and ears open all the time.
Got a call from my Son and the M 1009 did not start again after rebuilding the #1 alternator and load testing the batteries it is getting to be a dad help me thingy. Not that I am trying to shrug off my fatherly duties but anyone else have this trouble and find a cure?
Upon closer scrutiny this thing is toast since Oshkosh is currently doing frame off reset of the vehicles they provide to the Army at a price tag of around 70% of the vehicle price, So to fix this with currently available parts it would cost anyone hundreds of thousands of dollars to fix this...
After going through four of the miltary version square batteries I said heck with it and installed two 1050 CA 950 CCA commercial batteries that have a three year replacement and 10 year warranty. I had to mod the box a little but it cranks in a second and support my inverter
I am quite surprized that this truck is on the market and would not be surprized if some General wants it back. We were strictly forbidden from publishing any pictures of damaged Army vehicles and as stated this is a currently in use vehicle that will be in that status for many years. Also to...
The answer on the shackle is correct and the gravity fuel adapter was used on both generators and tent heaters. We always set them up outside our GP Mediums and routed the fuel line to the stove inside. They can glow red hot and do a good job if the liner is in the tent. I almost died from...
This last piture is a disaster waiting to happen it may have made it ten miles but the rule to remember is if it does not look right it most likely is not. A towbar should be nearly level when properly installed. In this picture imagine hitting a bump whent the M52 goes up so does the rear end...
This is the best thread for inspiration that I have read. You have done great work and I can't wait till Aberdeen in May. It is fitting for a great truck like the duece to get a really prime redo like pimp my ride only better. Hats off to your design and skill. It makes me think of all the...
Try going to the photo gallery and creating an album it is a great way to show things. Also try to get the Microsoft photo sizer for Windows XP it really makes it easy to post them and make one small enought for your Avatar. its free on their web site
I have been fighting the war on excess for my entire commisioned service and am currently trying to get it visible at 3 star level since it is hurting our Army and costs our Country too much. You would not belive what I saw in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait. Look in my gallery at the line of...
Welcome and thanks for the post. Next time I am in Niagra Falls I will try to get across and visit. You will find this site very interesting, helpful, and a pleasure to visit.
God bless Canada too
When you use AC power the cycles indicate the passing through zero and to the opposite charge. 60 HZ is fine for us humans since we do not detect this on and off and on cycle 60 times a second. The military went to 400 HZ because the time at zero is shorter between cycles and electronics like...
I have the superhides in my Suburban and they are awesome. I know they are not the original type but they stand up to everything and they stay on the seat when getting in and out. I really think they are the best deal for a driven truck.

I have taken kids out and demolished parking lot snow piles and when I was a platoon leader we drove over a fallen tree that was laid as an abitis to ambush us. It sure did bounce but did not do any harm to the truck just shook the heck out of all of us.
Well I picked up the fifth wheel on Saturday and I really want to go back to that yard since they have tons of truck parts and an M 872 trailer sitting in their yard. I will post a picture of the fifth wheel that I picked up on this thread but it is already in my photo album on the site.
