In the page of guntrucks the first photo says unit and personnel are unknown, I happen to know the Soldier on the right in the picture is retired First Sergeant John Coleman. If you want to get more I can contact him just shoot me a PM
Welcome and please post a few pictures for all of us. I know there is a vehicle in the design and pre production phase called the SRATS and it is a tremendous off road vehicle that can still do 100MPH all with a 6.5 TD I will try to post a video to the video section after I check with the owner...
I may be wrong but it also may be a cover made for the MKT I know we had covers to put on them for the times that we were in garrison and this looks close to that. This is based on the way the ropes are attached.
With all the trucks at Hattiesburg MS currently going for low prices it would be foolish to even support this attempt to allow an illegal alien to get registration and plates.
What about the last GP on the right side of a 6.5 TD, I can't even see it let alone change it. I have not changed it and my truck still starts well with the other seven SS plugs. Will that loner eventually give me problems that will force me to find it?
It is also possible that someone returned a shipment of unused plugs to them with the AC 11g in their box and they just added them back to stock after seeing them not being heated or used. At my age I have to look really close at anything that small and it could be a mistake that became a major...
Does anyone think a dolly converter could be made out of a generator trailer with dual wheel axles? I am thinking of that line welding up the rails and mounting an older civilian fifth wheel to it. I know we used the M354 two axle ones in Desert Storm since we did not have enough tractors in...
RE: 12 vs 24?
I just put the SS GP's in my 6.5 TD Suburban and for the first time since I have owned it got the #6 one in which is behind the exhaust down tube. Forget about the #8 it is lost in the firewall engine breathing space. Anyway the Suburban finally starts great in cold weather with...
Man I have spent a lot of time in those in the field. We got so good at setting them up that when we jumped the drivers knew just where to park them so that the trucks could be stepped into from one to another in a Division TOC. We had AC/ Heaters in the above the cab area. I made a lot of...
It is an historical fact that in the Korean war transportation officers were forced to load 2 1/2 ton trucks with up to 20 tons and more of ammunition in attempt to keep the war fighters supplied with ammo during the Chinese push south. From the accounts the trucks held up and did the job...
I bought mine in Texas and it had brand new brakes and had just been serviced. I have towed it thousands of miles just as I bought it and I even welded a 2" hitch to the tongue using a drop down to make it haul level behind my little truck. This was before I owned the duece and it pulls great...
I agree that the windows are the weakest part of the vehicle we had to replace many cranks and glass when we had them in an active duty transportation company. They got used everyday and Soldiers are hard on parts not built like a Mack truck. I have even toyed with putting barn doors on mine...
Does everyone agree that it is the right side alternator that I need to check and I take it that means #2? Also if mounting a Solarizer on the M1009 would the connections be made at the firewall buss bar?
Thanks and God bless.
EMP's will not detonate small arms ammunition or the weapons they are fired from. If a nuclear war is started I believe you should have plenty of both to help preserve the Union and protect your self, loved ones, and property. I am sure that we would get most of our Miltary Vehicles running...
I am sure some of you know this better than I do but the front battery in our M1009 is only reading 12.6 Volts and the rear one is reading 14.7 Volts. Both alternator belts are tight an the generator lights do not come on but the Voltage gage is reading in the yellow.
Is this an all right to...
All I know is that my duece and all my guns will still work and that is what will really matter in case of a Nuclear explosion that is big enough and close enough to kill your electronics. The shielding that we have on military equipment must be thoughouly tested and I am quite sure that the...
I have owned military vehicles for over 15 years and never heard about you all until I saw a link on the full size Jeep page I wish I knew earlier and would have welcomed a note on one of my vehicles letting me know about this fantastic site.
I will try to find a digital picture of the US Army 7 ton Mack that was fielded as previously mentioned to haul the 155mm Long Tom canon. I have a book the Vehicles of theUS Army in World War II that shows the vehicle towing the canon in contrast with a jeep towing a 75mm light canon the...
As a kid once we were down at the dump shooting rats with our 22's and a bum was down there rooting around in the garbage, I saw him pick up an old grapefruit half and put it in his mouth, he then spit it out and looking right at me with all three teeth blurted out "it's rotten" I swear I...
