Of course it could be a chain of unfortunate events like a fuel shut off by some unknown reason and then hydrolocked by the unspent fuel. I would most likely start by loosening the injectors as mentioned and try to crank. Are the batteries up to grade to turn it over? That could be the reason...
Hey buddy stay safe, looks like Balad no need to say if so or not but are you driving them or doing other. Thanks for serving and may you have a 100% safe tour and return, and a blessed Thanksgiving, I just got back from there a couple of months ago and will go back if they want me to.
RE: What would cause a no brakes situation in an M 818 Tract
Thanks Lloyd, I am thinking that it would not be too big of an expense for this if the airpac has to be replaced what will that cost for parts alone and where do you get one?
I am looking at M 818's and if one does not have brakes what would be some of the reasons, and worse case scenarios for this? Only have a deuce right now but I can think of an air leak or hydrovac issue but do the M 818's have similar brake systems or am I into a new animal with these trucks...
Keep your eyes out at community yard sales, I bought two snatch blocks both of which far exceed the 10 K rating of the winch and got them for a steal from women at huge tables of junk they were trying to unload. I will post pictures of them as soon as I can locate my camera cable but I never...
If you watch the you tube video that Ryan posted earlier you will see several shots of RHINO South African vehicles I saw them in Iraq and Afghanistan doing de-mining work. There is also a few video clips of the wierdest looking anti mine vehicle the buffalo that has remote arms to reach out...
I bought one of those that was at the auction and I bid on but did not win the one that had only 20K miles. The one we won had 58K on it and started right up. The only thing it needed to pass inspection was new tires, new vacume lines, and my stainless steel sheetmetal and pop rivets for areas...
When we were trying to get the First Cavalry Division ready for Desert Storm in August of 1990 the Army shipped in thousands of gallons of desert CARC paint. All the paint shops on the post went to work at a feverish 24 hour per day schedule to paint over 6,000 vehicles in time to deploy. M1...
I have not broken the pin but while I was in Iraq my son used the duece to try and pull out a 20 foot evergreen tree. He broke the pin and it stayed that way till I got home, ( my dad would have expected me to fix this) I found out he was straight line pulling it thinking that the winch was a...
What is really a shame is seeing a 5 ton FMTV with an armor cab on it's nose with the duals in the air because the truck can not be driven safely as an armored bobtail. That severly hampers my convoy ops since a bobtail is always a part of the trail party. We need a re-think of the whole...
Try a broken flair under a fitting or a flexed too often tube that is perfed. Try to isolate where the fuel is coming from by watching it drip or spray out and then go to the source of the leak. Sorry no better diagnosis without a picture to go by

I am not aware being fairly newly promoted Sergeant but if there is not a link for local re-enactor groups we might have one to allow SS members to check out if they could do common tasks with them. Maybe lots of you do this already but just thought it would be a good thing to be able to check out.
The old DRMO auctions, though longed for by types like me will sadly most likely not return due to the information age that finds most of us metal benders and wrench turners sitting at a TV with a disjointed typewriter engaging our fingers. I believe the correct way to handle this is to have...
I don't consider the FMTV to be one of the Army's finest hour things. Since they were bought in relativly recent days with history and lethality being what it is they did not have protection for the crew or critical components built in. So now we have a truck with very reduced capacity with...
My Truck company had M 818's that spent 98% of the time on hardball roads and only took to the mud when we did an FTX or ARTEP since we were a line haul company this was to be expected and when coupled to a fully loaded M 127 you would understand why we liked hardball. In mud they were kinda...
The Marines I served with in Iraq had the feeling they may have asked for too big of a truck.... I wondered what they were talking about since we have had 7 tons since WW II to haul long tom 155mm guns. It is a bit hard to get it around tight spots and that brings back the utility of the...
