I think I have the mystery solved on the top box, at least partially. They have some mounts welded on that look like it had some kind of box over the tongue. Also got some pics today with it open :) I love this thing. Tim, go open yours ! It's easy, and we need pics !

Why not use the lock function with a moderator post at the bottom ? (I can see where this would sometimes not be appropriate, but most times I believe would be better, as everyone can see why it was locked, not just those who have posted)
