Well, I have since figured out the best way to get this started without burning up glow plugs or over revving the engine. I just barely push the throttle and turn the key on until wait light goes out and turn it over for 2-3 seconds and if it don't fire up I LEAVE THE KEY ON and wait a couple...
I had to see how mine would fare with 2°F. She fired right up with a total crank time of about five seconds. I used to shut the key off on a failed fire upon cranking an engine and then back on to try again. Found out with this glow plug diesel to just leave it on if it dont fire on the first...
You know, I was just doing some heavy thinking on this subject of monopoly of military rolling stock and came to the conclusion that the reason it is this way (legally) is most likely because WE set the price. They don't. Other than that, I would think it would be illegal. Only reason this...
I have one tire with a slow leak and if I go a week or more without starting it I have to hit the run flat for ten seconds or so and then hit the highway button again and it'll start airing the tire up. In a week I cant even "see" the tire is low, but I still have to do this.
I never guessed they made any adjustable. I will look. If not I guess it is engineering time. Oh, by the way, the parking brakes work great. The wheels just drug forward with them set and was picking up on the back of the truck in reverse.
That is the idea my son came up with. Only question is how to lengthen distance from front bow to rear one, as that won't change by lifting the whole bow assembly.
I agree. I am in no hurry to move any. So I can part with them only if someone wants one more than I do. I would prefer a M101A2, but this brakeless unit will do in the meantime. I like the air over hydraulic of the M105A2s to pull behind the 5 ton. I am anxious to put one to work.
I just picked up my new (to me) M101A1 trailer with a descent paulin/cover. Thing is, the cover is just a few inches too large, in all directions. It does work but I cannot pull it fully tight. This picture shows how low it is on the sides. Both are even. It also is too low front and rear. Could...
Then a massive locust tree was whipping in the wind this morning. That had me concerned with this saturated ground so I had to move my M105A2s out to a property that I will eventually be living at. I wanted to move them with my 5 ton but don't want to make ruts, so I used the CUCV. Here's a pic...
Used mine to get an M101A1 home from Columbus. Delivered a mower to my son who lives in that area and trimmed some trees. Next thing i know, my 3+ hour drive gets started in the dark. Then the intense rain came for the whole drive making it a 4.5 hour drive. Here's a pic from this morning.
I got the trailer here up for votes, at my physical house Christmas day and gave it a good go over yesterday. Removed the air filters and blew the hoses clean by hooking each hose to my 5 ton's emergency air hookup and cracking the air. Both hoses blew a bunch of junk out. Also, removed and...
Used my 5 ton yesterday to pick up another M105A2 I had dropped off at my mother's since her place is right off I-70. I wanted to do it yesterday as we were having dinner there and my son was in town and I wanted to let him put a couple miles on it. His wife decided against it.
Then today I...
New dual exhaust all the way back with quiet mufflers. So much better. Had a small leak, then another, then breakage. Bad fumes with one window down. All gone after 3.5 benjis. But now I can drive in peace and not worry about something needing wired up if I hit a bump.
I got my M105A2s home yesterday. The one up for votes here even came with a well protected TM and a not so well protected camo folder that is a maintenance/service record folder. Looks like this unit was in Luxemburg. Most of the papers are ruined from water damage, but somewhat legible.
