it seems to me that the bridge truck wheels have a dirrerent off set or back spacing than the standard 5 ton wheel. this would make the bridge truck wheel to close to the spring pack as the bridge truck axel housings im told are wider. one could probably swap a set of bridge truck axels in. how...
from my expeirence with the 250, a pyrometer is very important when turning these up. we bumped mine up a tad and the exhaust temp gets hot and it gets hot quick. must be due to the lack of piston coolers.
some of these speeds stated here make me wonder about a few things. my XM818 with 11;00's will not do 60 MPH without over revving the ole 250. its rated at 2100 RPM's and i dont like to run over that. i am sure will can let us know how well these cummins like the added RPM's that some are...
dont know how good it is but my XM818 came to me with a flex on the lower radiator hose. i have put 12,000 miles on it and it's still holding. i would like to find the rite one tho.
Give rattle head a bump. we just threw a tape on his last weekend but i cant remember for sure what it was. a friend of mine has a good new one with busted glass.
i dont know much about the 2 1/2 ton trucks but the 5 ton rears have an outer seal that keeps the gear lube from entering the wheel bearing. original had cork wedge and i used silicone.
Not trying to hijack here but i have the same issue with the only set of wheel bearings that needed replacing on the M819. ran hot! just the outer. 212 degrees! in just 35 miles. backed the nut off 1/4 turn then locked it down and the temp dropped 40 degrees but its still hotter than the...
I know of a certain M819 that can use up most of that speedometer. by the way my XM818 W/W has this kind of instrument. works well. first MV that i owned that has a built in clock!
someone needs to post a pic of Rattleheads cool 900!! like an idiot i left my camera at home in the rush to get going. wouldn't matter much as i cant figure out how to post them here anyways :( and I'm sure the rest of the members will share some of there's with me?
I just put the Hemit wheels with 16:00 20 XZL's on the M819 and the stock front wheel studs are to short. its not that big of deal to change them as the front wheel bearings probably could use cleaning and repacking anyways. i did not feel comfortable with the stud that would not fill the...
be sure to check the inner bearing races. these are often overlooked. just clean and dry the bearing real good and hold it just rite to the light and you can see right inside. also check to make sure the outer race is seated completly.
We will be there with the Road Train. we plan on going after i get out of work on Friday evening. when ever that may be???? Hopefully without any more FIRES!!! John / Bob * we are setting up just south of last years location. just across the river on the ball Field.
i dont know the weight of these but i do know they are kinda heavy. if you have the luxury of concrete and a engine hoist, your back will thank you. i have been working out in the dirt so i have to just bull them. even a plank and a floor jack would prob work.
