What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Wow. That is scary. I will only pull the mower with this, but I definitely would like to go with a frame mounted hitch soon, or the pintle location mounted one you speak of. Can the standard ones bolt up or are the pintle braces in the way? Where can one aquire one that bolts in where the pintle...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Thanks. I actually agree. Was considering a couple straps under it as well. I did pull my lawnmower out the dirt road with it yesterday. I would not have even done that much at all on a civy truck's typical step bumper but with all the bracing for the pintle, I know the bumper will hold up. Civy...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I molested my previously unmolested M1008A1 by welding a hitch to the bumper. Then painted it. The light rain spattered the dust and made it look like it came that way.

What A Game Camera's NV Does To Camo Paint

Thought I would share why my avatar looks like an urban paint job. One of my game cameras snapped this shot just after dark as I was circling my perimeter road on my land. The green became white and the black stayed as is and the brown became grey. I thought it was pretty cool looking.

Why did the army pick GM? With picture

Uh oh. Better be careful. I was a Ford guy raised in a Ford family (they still are as they havn't tested different waters) until I got my first Chevy 30 years ago. Never looked back. I guess they're all the same if one just puts gas in and goes, but if you work on your own stuff, that Chevy is...

Why did the army pick GM? With picture

Gotta agree with the last part of that on all U.S. made vehicles. They made quality vehicles before the regs but their hands were tied. They were all stuck in a groove of building power and a nice heavy vehicle and then slammed with environmental regulations with no idea on what to do or what...

Finally Got Me A CUCV M1008

Ok. Thanks. That really makes sense. I have spray can of white lithium grease, so I will hit it with that.

Finally Got Me A CUCV M1008

Ok. Good to know. Am tearing into that tomorrow. I will use the other side as my template as I want to clean both sides up and repack them with grease.

Finally Got Me A CUCV M1008

You got me wondering about my gears now. This seems to shift way later than my civy '86 3/4 ton with same transmission and an NP208C2 transfer case. Heck, that thing is in high gear at 18 mph (not a bit of exaggeration) and this wont hit high gear until 24 mph, feathering the throttle on both...

Finally Got Me A CUCV M1008

Aint that for sure. I always had a habit of driving any truck slow, but this beast makes slow, not only look good, but sound darn good too. Love that noisy Detroit!

Finally Got Me A CUCV M1008

Hello everyone. I finally picked me up the truck I have wanted for years. Had several civy Chevy trucks but always drooled when I'd see one of these units going down the road, or sitting in someone's driveway. This is the real McCoy built for durability and longevity. I remember when I was...

My Truck's First Job For Hire

Now I have a better idea how much weight the bed is capable of holding. This photo is of 4.7 ton of RAP (recycled asphault product). I could tell the weight was there, but barely.
