chains are a heck of a traction device but care must be used or you will pay the price. with chains on you can get very stuck very quickly and/or break things.
rizzo, have you flipped the rear hubs on your 5 ton yet ? i have 5 single type wheels ( thanks to hookin1 and eddeic ) that i think are hemit wheels. need 2 more. might check into a civy version for the last 2. i think the wheels i have are like yours so i will need to flip my rear hubs to make...
may be the type that operates off a pendulum design. the harder the tow vehicle brakes the further the pendulum swings and applies more brake. these type have to be installed and adjusted correctly to work propperly.
rizzo, on mine the front line on trans goes to the front port on t case. the middle line on trans goes to rear port on t case. the rear line on trans is the supply.

thats a first for me also. all the ones i have seen had windows to #6. it would be interesting to know how long the other ones ran at full throttle with no load on them! the wrecker we just bought has the large turbo with the waste gate. prob doesnt make any diff on power but it just looks huge...
ok. i had found the air valve for the clutch. the other switch must have the wrong plate on it. any wiring harnesses availible for these? thanks rizzo for explaining it .
thanks Kenny. its not what i was told as far as condition but the seller adjusted the price to a fair amount. i am happy with the outcome. runs great. sheet metal is kinda rough and a lot of the wiring harnesses are missing. so the hunt is just beginning for things for this unit!! by the way...
wrecker is in my yard !! it's a M543A2 W/W. it's a little rough but it's mine. mostly all there with a few parts missing. thanks for the replies. it will be fun to put back in shape. i will try to post some pics.
we are going to look at a 5 Ton Wrecker on thursday with plans to purchase if it checks out ok . is there anything in particular that i should look for as far as the crane assembly? this truck was used for unloading and loading trucks for a few years. i am asking this as i have'nt been around...
it's easy and cheap to get it made at any glass place. just flat glass laminated. i had some made not long ago and i think the cost was $15.00 ea.. that included the piece of seal that goes in the channel . also the 3 sided seal is availible from a couple different places. just my way of...
