Thanks guys.
I might head up again tomorrow and see what I can do to get it started, armed with the ideas ya'll threw at me in this thread. Keith is really sick, so I don't want to impose on him tomorrow... is there ANYONE else who is knowledgeable and available tomorrow, who could talk me...
No, I have insurance. The wheels of the State of Texas grind excruciatingly slowly. I'm waiting on my plates to get here (it's been close to 2 weeks) before the lady at the tax office will title and register my truck.
As for the WHY... well, to avoid having to pay $700 or so to get it hauled.
That's plan B. And another steel soldier is willing to let me borrow his tow bar, but I need the feet for it.
Also, I'm not sure if fort sam will let me on base with my untitled/unregistered deuce. Maybe I should shave, get a brown T shirt, and try the casual method of reentry.
I'd...
I didn't even think to look.
However, if the fuel shut off valve link was stuck in the off position, would fuel still be sent to the filters? Fuel is getting sent to the filters when I turn on the accessory switch.
What exactly is the fuel shut off valve linked to? Man, I wish I'd thought...
Well, they did hit the bumper AND put some serious dings in the oil pan between when I inspected it and today.
I'm guessing they hit it with a forklift and the teeth hit the oil pan. Hopefully the pump or whatever is in there to send oil to the engine isn't damaged...
I might try to make a...
So I went to pick up a deuce at fort sam today and it would crank but not start. I put two new commercial batts in that I KNOW work, because I ran them in another deuce the day before. They're fully charged and fresh.
The fuel filters are getting fuel.
Someone suggested trying to bleed the...
Last I looked, anything 26,000 lbs or higher GVWR needed a Class B or higher. regardless of who owned it or what type of insurance it had.
I don't know this for a fact, but I think it's the same in most States because of the Driver's License Compact.
JeremyB:
How much weight would an...
In Texas at least, I think that would add enough weight to make it not legal to drive on a regular class C driver's license.
Still sounds cool, tho. Can't wait to see pics.
Only if all those states specifically had reciprocal agreements with Texas. Or if it was covered by something like a multistate compact and each of those States had signed onto it.
I'd say your best bet is to contact each of those states' DoT's or whatever they have and ask them if they...
Done two from San Antonio to beeville (about 110 miles).
Also driven my first one a couple of times within 30 miles of homes without registration, plates, or title or anything. Typically the cops just smile and wave.
As far as registering it with just an invoice... well, I tried that. That...
I submitted one on september 1st for event 4600.
The page still says EUC submission pending. I've talked to heidi twice and she assures me they have it and are reviewing it. It just seems incredible to me that they're taking this long to even send it on to battle creek.
Would you mind going into more detail? Maybe a tutorial "Waste Motor Oil Filtration For Dummies" with pictures?
I'm really interested in doing this and I have a line on WMO. Just need to figure out the particulars on filtration.
Any help you could give us would be very much appreciated.
Thanks, it looks like the Deuce qualifies both because I bought it from the government via SF97 as well as the 25+ year old vehicle thing.
Yeah, I am aware that I don't NEED the Former MV plate, but I figured it would be a good idea, if for no other reason than reducing my chances of being stopped.
Could ya'll tell me where in the law it says I'm exempt from the late penalty on the tax if buying from the government? Because the invoice on this is from back in May, and I'm absolutely POSITIVE this lady is going to hit me up for the full amount of penalties.
The lady at the tax office won't let me title my truck until the FMV plates come in. She wants to do it all at the same time, both titling and registering.
I was finally able to get her to order some FMV plates (they didn't even have ONE at the office), but she has no clue how long it'll take...
Sorry, but I STRONGLY disagree with the people here advising against this.
If you moderate your speech solely because you're afraid that others will use the government to punish you for doing so (restrict private ownership of MVs), then you've voluntarily surrendered that right.
What good is a...
