Jon, i could be crazy, i guess. but when we stock up on our POL ASL 15w40 was topping the list. customers were required to bring their own POL for the task being performed and i remember seeing 15w40 most all the time. the only time i remember seeing much of anything else was either for...
i'm don't know why you'd need the painless wiring harness - you have the donor truck with ecm and stock harness. people are doing common rail swaps left and right without getting a swap-harness. either stock mechanical or aftermarket mechanical or electrical gauges can be used.
also, you...
no - i've been out of the company for 4 years and out of the Army for 3 years.
basically, the sample goes to the lab (gov contracted civies) and a report is generated back. nobody ever paid attention to the specifics, just the instructions, i.e.:
- silicon (dirt) in oil - check air...
well, in the DS shop i ran (632nd Maint Co Ft. Stewart), everything got 15w-40. even 396th Trans Co (48 PLS + 15 HETTS from 233rd) run 15w-40.
why do you think the DD need a special oil?
not to hijack, but is there a good [and economical] source for stocking up on rigging, snatchblocks, and the likes? do some of these sponsor/vendors have offerings and selections?
i just want to make sure i get some good'ol' USA products that are safe to use.
i can do it - just going to need some help w/ "correct" changes (such as the grounding types, bulb #'s, and other things that you suggested).
does the TM dwg of the rotary switch benefit over Peter's switch dwg? to me it seems that the switch drawn gives a more legible depiction of the switch...
ok, so i downloaded the cad drawings and made a few of the recommended changes:
starter - flipped coil and contacts
added circuit breaker to light switch
changed color to green
renamed "Switch Ignition" as "Master Switch"
changed heater feed "35" to read "55"
attached is the PDF version...
correct me if i'm wrong (which i probably am since i don't have my deuce yet and i haven't played w/ the winch in some time), but isn't the winch worm-gear driven? and as such, isn't the only bake in the winch a drag brake? a drag brake only slows the drum during free-spool so that the drum...
you can hook it up one of two ways: first as i described w/ towbar lunette on the wrecker pintle and lift w/ the truck pintle.
second is the opposite: towbar lunette on the truck pintle (w/ feet on the wrecker) and lift by chains through rear shackles on the truck. bumperettes are not a...
the way we've towed w/ the 816 or 900 series is just how you're describing. flip (rotate) the pintle upside down and use that as the lifting point. the towbar attaches (w/ the correct feet) to the rear shackle [edit: mounts]. the most important thing is how you securely chain the steering wheel...
Recovery, it's just a question for conversation.
thanks for the useful info. in the future i'll be sure to not ask questions that you don't want to answer.
let me ask this (without hijacking the thread too horribly): what's the real rating of the winch? the reason i say "real rating" is because i was reading in one of the TM's (or maybe even PS mag) that the shear pin is there to limit the max pull to 10k because of the possibility of breaking...
well, can't seem to find any data on bed height. did find a nice source for data sheets, though.
best thing in can think of is to look at some pictures and extrapolate based on tire height: 46" tires, i think you're looking at right about 60".
dunno what else to tell you...
