When I replaced the clutch and pressure plate on my Deuce, I intended to replace the seal as well. My old seal did not leak a drop and several friends talked me out of replacing the seal. They had several stories of people replacing their old non-leaking seals with the result that their new...
You are correct about not starting out in 2nd. When I was in the Army it was forbidden to start out in 2nd. We were told that 2nd gear was the weak link in the transmission. I can't remember what bad things happen if you start out in 2nd.
First, I always start off in 1st gear. If I wind it out too high in 1st, or try to shift from 1st to 2nd too fast, it can be hard to get into 2nd. If I take it easy - - start out in 1st, but only get it up to 1 - 2 mph and then shift into 2nd at a reasonable speed, it goes right in without any...
That was me. I had some other business in Blue Ridge and stopped by to take a look. There will definitely not be a problem with having enough room. Sounds like an excellent plan in place to handle the vehicle ingress and egress from the site. There is a fair amount of traffic on the road...
I've used Imron on my airplane and was very satisfied with the wear durability, but the red color is fading fairly fast. The expense would preclude using it on MVs in my opinion. I've had great luck with Gillespie paints.
My wife would kill me in those circumstances, but I hope you can make it. I want to see your Ferret. Make sure you plan to attend the 2011 Georgia Rally in October. It is fantastic with a very large number of MVs of all types and many vendors.
We 'may' have another M35A3 or A2 coming. I talked on the phone last night with somebody that lives in Demorest, GA that has multiple A2 and A3 trucks. He sounded fairly enthusiastic.
Make certain that you turn off the CTIS system, even if it appears to be working. Check the pressure manually. The truck will drive better with 50 psi pressure in the tires. Check the pressure again after about an hour of driving. Take a standard set of tools with you. Make sure you have a jack...
I would make sure you have adequate liability coverage. I have mine at $300,000 and $100,000 for property. A Deuce can eat an expensive car for lunch. $125.00 per year sounds awfully inexpensive.
Getting the correct clearance is critical. You can damage the transmission and/or PTO if not set correctly. If I remember correctly, I used six standard gaskets to get the correct clearance. It's different with each transmission/PTO combination. Difficulty in shifting the transmission is one...
I would buy a set of troop seats. Building a set from scratch would be a great deal of work. You can get a set of troop seats for a reasonable price in good condition and cheaper in poor condition ready for refurbishment.
Congratulations on your new A3! I picked mine up at Sparta as well in January and drove it home to Georgia. I'm assuming that you mean that your low air pressure buzzer keeps buzzing won't shut off? Check and make sure the petcocks on the tanks are closed. If already closed, open for a while...
We need more information. When it was having difficulty starting was the starter spinning the engine at a reasonable rate? If so, you have a fuel problem - filters, air in lines, etc.
