    MEP-803A exhaust DPF mod?

Run Biodiesel.... it has a different smell than diesel... Better yet, do a WVO conversion, your exhaust will smell like french fries and chicken fingers. rofl

    MEP-803A cranking cylinder pressure

Thanks Guyfang. I tore it apart last night and will re-do everything again with new parts this time.... No sense short-cutting anything again!

    MEP-803A cranking cylinder pressure

Out of curiosity, were you getting a lot of smoke ( bluish gray ) upon cold start? What I'm finding is that cylinders with 225-250+ seem to run good, but once you drop to about 200psi it seems like the cylinder is right on the edge of insufficent compression temp to fire and will just smoke...

MEP 003A Governor not following load

Also, check the linkage going to the IP for free movement. I once had an 003A with 5 hours documented on the clock that was doing the same thing, only it would start to droop at about 40-50% load. Ended up being that the expanding section of linkage ( not sure of technical term... ) was bound up...

    MEP-803A cranking cylinder pressure

Don't laugh, but here's what I had to do.... I used the body of a bad injector, welded the small fuel return line closed and then welded 2 different thread lug nuts together ( one that would thread onto the injector and the other that would accept the thread on one of my compression gage...

    MEP-803A cranking cylinder pressure

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone here knows what the typical cylinder cranking pressure should be on a typical LPW2 or LPW4 motor? I've been working on several of these and I'm finding some at about 250psi and some closer to 200-220 psi. From reading, these motors are supposed to be...

    MEP-802A MEP-803A Filters and Parts

Hello, I've been doing a bit of engine repairs on a bunch of these gens I bought and found a couple very cheap sources for full gasket kits ( $90 for 4 cyl.) , head gaskets, rings, bearings and such. If you want to add to this thread I can send along some info.... The key seems to be to search...

MEP-803A Fuel Pump Rack Setting Gage (Gauge)

I'd be interested to know the answer too. The TM doesn't seem to say much about it. I have a machine I'm working on that has 2 cyls. that run clean under a heavy load a 2 that give a little black smoke. All the injectors are new and the lift pumps were removed and cleaned. I can't turn the pumps...

    Crazy prices?

Exactly, the 400hz machines are going for $3k up to over $5K A good friend of mine was about to bid on a nice 2012 right near by, starting at $3000 until I looked at it and told him STOP! its an 813A! He saw 10K in the title and almost went for it unknowingly.

    Crazy prices?

Hey LITD.... funny, I recently responded ( nicely ) to the one you are talking about who says you can turn the frequency down 15% and run a building... tried to explain it to him nicely and he responds " keep reading below, I mention using an inverter " After looking again, he has 2 postings...

    MEP-8xx engine paint

Cool, thanks.... It will be interesting to see if it's actually a different color or just a factor of "old age"

    MEP-8xx engine paint

After looking closer in the sunlight, I suppose I should call the color more of a grayish green. Definitely more grayish than the newer machines, but maybe it could be green that has faded out over time? Not sure...

    MEP-8xx engine paint

I can also attest to the fact that Daybreak's suggestion of Stove Bright is a great match for the green engine paint. I've used it on several newer machines and it looks perfect. My question to all you MEP-8XXA enthusiasts is: On the older ( mid-90's) 5K machines, the Onan engines I've seen were...

    MEP-806A Low voltage/ low frequency problem ??

Hello R Racing, I was just reading this post and wondering if your 806B is still working properly? If so, the magnetic pickup ended up being the problem?

    Manual Glow Plug Control Instructions

Exactly what I did... I cut the harness to separate it from the controller and used a 24V solenoid and wired direct to a momentary push button. Seems the problem is there are Glow plugs being sold on ebay as 24V with the correct NSN# but according to an article I read, the seller admits they are...

    Manual Glow Plug Control Instructions

Hello guys. I was wondering if anyone could give some advise on a similar manual glow plug override problem I'm having? A friend with a HMMWV was having issues with his glow plug controller so I used a 24V starter solenoid and rigged it up with a momentary push button and tied the power into the...

    Anyone Grid tied their generator?

Eliteweapons, is your solar system currently tied to the grid using a UL approved grid tie inverter and using net metering? Here in RI I had looked into a similar scenario years ago and found that I could use any power source I wanted, ( regardless of how efficient or inefficient ) as long as I...

    GL Lost Surplus Contract

I think the current GP sites are just going to begin selling the surplus items that used to go to GL. Only difference is in cases like Chambersburg PA where they have a strictly "Outdoor" GP facility, those sites will need to move to a location with a warehouse, possibly Letterkenny in the case...

    MEP-803A Outlets have no power.

Well, it's not a GFCI outlet, its a regular old NEMA 5-15 fed from a remote GFCI breaker. In my case the outlet cover had been damaged and water probably got into the outlet itself, but compressed air and leaving indoors for a while didn't help. ( not that there was any evidence of water in the...

    GL Lost Surplus Contract

Yup, I heard that GP is now taking over the Non-Rolling stock from GL. Guess that's got its good and bad points...
