    tops off

On my old M715, it was top off most of the summer. But one guy could do it in ten minutes without getting hurt. The M1009 is not that way. 8)

    Confused on Towing

As a general rule, I would not tow more with a M1009 than it weighs. They are softly sprung compared to your normal tow vehicle. They also nose dive pretty bad when you stand on the brakes, which allows the load to shove the rear tires around fairly easily. I had a 1977 2wd Blazer that I towed...

    tops off

Back in the day, we used to say two strong men and a fast coordinated boy. Today, I think a mechanical device and two guys or four guys will get it done. They are heavy with not much to hang on to.

Not a lot of CUCV to this thread.... a lot of fun though!

That's a HOOT! That is exactly what the guy at the local rat rod shop said. I should do some videos of some of his stuff, you can see his old late 40's Chevy pickup in the background at one point. That is his daily driver and the top of the cab is lower than the roof of a new Mustang. I am sure...

    Bought two M37's today

Those all look sweet, I always thought I would buy an M37, but I have messed around and watched them go from cheap to high dollar! Nice find! Glen

Not a lot of CUCV to this thread.... a lot of fun though!

A couple of buddies attended an auction in rural Kansas. The main calling card for them was advertised as a 1934 Hudson Terraplane..... Custom! When they saw the old Hudson in the yard, they agreed that it should be owned. Apparently it had been a family car for many years and during the war...

    Peppy Deuce

Nice polished chrome stack too! That really looks out of place! It sure sounds sweet, I feel sorry for the guy in his pickup or Jeep that unsuspectingly drives off into those ruts. Glen

    Wheelin Pics!

Looks like fun, I remember when my little guy was tooling around the off road park in my M1008. He could barely see over the dashboard then, he is somewhere around six feet tall now and about 170 pounds. Cherish these moments while you can, we did not do nearly enough of this. Glen

    2010 Kansas Steel Soldiers rally

It was a great time, hard to pick out a highlight, but I think watching the kids jump back when the radial started was it for me. I know my two sons had not experienced that before and they were both pretty impressed. I wanted to take the Mule for a spin, never ran one, but I thought the staff...

Well.... We found the air leak in the M1009 yesterday, I have been having to bleed the fuel block with increasing regularity, I never could figure out where the air was getting in. If it is the same place that is now spewing fuel out, this will be an easy fix. I definitely have a major fuel...

    2010 Kansas Steel Soldiers Rally D Day + 6

We are planning to be there. A friend of mine had a couple of heart attacks this week and surgery yesterday. We may have his two grandsons with us as well. We should have at least the two M1009s there, as rough as they may be... and possibly the M1008. Anything for some active young men to do...

The reason you tow your m1009 home not drive

I drove my M1009 home from Jefferson City Missouri, about 450 miles, I drove my second one home from Salt Lake City, about 1016 miles, and I can only wish I drove my M1008 home from Chadron, Nebraska, we hauled it 530 miles. My M1008 is by far in the best mechanical shape of the three, the trip...

Saw M1009 yesterday. Was it you?

Nope, I was a few hundred miles west of there, but my M1009s were both out cruising for a bruising yesterday. My son and I went out to eat tacos at a local bar, then we went and fueled them up. 140 dollars for diesel fuel. I went home to lick my wounds, but he and his buddy were off to play with...

On way to buy 1st MV - M1009

Your life will never be the same, soon your closet will start filling up with strange colored clothing, your boots will turn tan or black with mesh sides, your friends will tell you your hats look goofy, your lawn will have a different green from the grass.... I think you are already lost, you...

You would surely know better than I would. This one had some yellowish looking areas on the driver's door, much like the one in the fence. It also had a Kansas license plate on it.... I figured they were one and the same. I have definitely been wrong before.... Glen

Missouri salvage yard or dealer on I-70?

The guy I was thinking of is apparently gone. This guy had a nice wrecker, about four deuces and a CUCV shop truck. One deuce had a drop side bed on it and that whole truck looked pretty straight. The wrecker was really nice, it was rusty around the top rail of the cab, but that should be easy...

    Another gear thread

They will be the same as what you have, a lot of them were 3.73 or higher geared with an overdrive. The reason I was suggesting those is that they should be a direct fit.

    2010 Kansas Steel Soldiers rally

A few weeks ago we were leaving Florence in my M1009 and saw a nice deuce south bound on US 77 pulling a trailer. Yesterday we drove by the museum and saw the deuce sitting inside the fence. We are looking forward to attending....
