In general or for a particular vehicle? On my 915 it is right in the dash and although I have not had to do anything with it I kinda like it right there with the door it has. Easy to reach for sure.
You can always add a snatch block or two if you have them. An ATV one would work depending on the size of the cable. Less stress on everything except the beam carrying the load.
Old age has reduced my lifting capacity as well. Crap.
This is not a pic of mine but it shows the same number of rivets. Are you saying the grill can be removed without removing them? That I could do to replace the metal.
Much as I would like to take the grill off mine so I could replace the expanded metal where someone cut it to get to the cooler I doubt I could stand drilling out that many rivets.
