    Electrical issue on 1990 M923A2

I've heard of pretty common issues with the PCB. And it sounds about right from your description. Try tapping it with a hammer, seems to free up the solenoids.

Steel Soldiers MV of the month 2021 - September VOTE HERE!

There is a great collection of vehicles this month, so I suppose that I should do some "campaigning". This is my dump truck. There are many like it, but this one is mine. Built by Mack, she started life in 1952 as a M51 gasser. She served with the Army, getting rebuilt at some point into an...

MV of the Month September 2021

There's some stiff competition, but I'll toss my dump truck in the mix.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Haha. I understand, but they used to get in the house when I was younger. Not wanting to pour fuel around in the house. As I understand it, they have the sent to leave markers to make a trail that they can follow back to a food source.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I didn't check, but if they are the typical ants we find here, they are carpenter ants. Carpenter ants give off a weird smell when you squish them.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Drove I the dump to work today. Took some ants for a wild ride in the process. Found them when I got home.

Someone @ GP bumped their head!

I had had that thought, as well. Someone trying to slip one past, but, (I have no idea who post the auctions, sets prices, etc) I wouldn't think it would be easy get away with something like that.

Vent Hose and What Else to Check?

Condensation can form inside an engine due to fluctuations in temperature, relative humidity, etc.. Especially if it sits a lot. When the engine warms up it will "burn off" the condensation. Basically it just boils off the moisture, which comes out as water vapor. Engines also create a oil...

    Towing an M1009 Blazer

I'm not super familiar with the m1009, but the civilian version of the K5's in that vintage had a slip-yoke transfer case. If you pull the driveshaft, be prepared to have the fluid come out. They do make a tailgate plug to take its place, but I believe it's more for in the shop vs down the...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

To be fair, they probably don't realize they killed it. They were a co-worker when we recovered the vehicle. Planning to make a mini-home out of it, so I understood that money was tight. Then they quit to work at a different dealer, so it took some pestering to finally get the batteries...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I feel your pain. I loaned out my batteries to help a friend get a vehicle home. They kept them for a couple months, and when I finally got them back,, they had left the key on and ran them dead. Killed a cell in one. Fortunately I only had to buy two. That was months ago and I'm still kind...

Largest dual tires for 5 ton?

When they say overwidth, they are saying wider than would be legal for the road.

Rapco paint is no longer Gillespie?

The biggest benefit for me, when I used it, was that it eased trigger finger fatigue when painting a lot at one time.

Rapco paint is no longer Gillespie?

I've had decent luck with this style. I had a different one that worked a little better, but these do alright.

    Heading to the East Coast

That's no fun. On the plus side, reinstalling a starter shouldn't be a big fix if you can get the bolts. Now, I don't know a great deal about the FMTVs, but I have noticed traffic about them having a vibration issue. Something about driveshaft phasing, I believe. I would recommend some...

    KAMO rally October 11-13 2019

Same here. Keep trying to make it again, but seem like the truck is down every time.

Questions / discussion about General Mechanic's Tool Kit

I have a GMTK that goes with me on any trip. You can do an amazing amount on work with what's in this kit and maybe a couple other special pieces, from changing injectors on an LB7, to swapping a transmission in a Civic. I've added a couple tools but basically original. That said, if I were...

    M35a2 Torque arms

Set of 12, plus two tie rod ends, and some shock bushings. I believe they only fit the m35 series trucks. Much smaller than the ones on my m51.

    M35a2 Torque arms

If someone is needing a set of the bushings, I have some I'd sell for 300 plus shipping.
