best way to level 1986 m1009

Did you replace with new springs or used? You may want to take some measurements to see if the frame or body is lower on that side. You may have body mount issues if the springs are OK. Again, compare dimensions from one side to the next to see where the sag is occurring.

    Metro Detroit Mechanic Needed

These trucks are super easy to learn how to wrench on. Your biggest challenges outside of basic mechanics is learning the diesel fuel system/glow plugs and 24v charging system. Both of which are basic in nature but probably something you will have to read up on before tackling. For the most part...

    Metro Detroit Mechanic Needed

I would highly recommend learning how to wrench on your own rig or be prepared to shell out some big dollars to get it reliable. It isn't super difficult work but lots of hours for any technician.

    Fuel tank sending unit

When I replaced my sending unit years ago I remember it being an additional feed but it does not go the to the bottom of the tank. So yes, you could run a fuel fired heater or drain most of the tank using this line. My unit just had a rubber cap on the sending unit metal line on top of the tank.

    question on 1031 pricing ..

I agree, finding one unmolested in clean shape with all of the equipment including a functioning generator is fairly rare. I paid $6000 for one sight unseen and I still had to do a lot of mechanical work to make it reliable. Not to mention redo some of the generator stuff. I wouldn't even think...

death wobble.. Fixing it with the steering stabilizer?

CUCVRUS...So you never deal with modified vehicles but are giving advice on them? You said that a guy runs oversized tires with zero issues but the OP's problems are probably the tires. You've fixed deathwobble but are not sure how it truly was resolved. Posts like this help absolutely no one...

    K5 Front Seat Bench Operation

I would sit on that bench for a few hours and get back to me on how much more comfy it is than the buckets. It is on par with a milk crate or flipped over 5 gallon bucket.

    Owner Survey---Fuel Additives

I use the recommended dosage of Diesel Kleen gray bottle at every fill up. I notice it tends to accelerate better, rattle less, and I know that the IP isn't grinding itself to death with the ULSD garbage. I use Diesel Kleen white bottle for winter storage.

Normal For M1009 To Smoke Under Load?

I don't follow here. You have an IP that has an unknown fuel screw setting and you are adding something to the fuel. Unless you are willing to try it without the 2 cycle oil first and then maybe even reset the IP screw, this whole conversation is a waste of time. A stock 6.2 should never really...

death wobble.. Fixing it with the steering stabilizer?

You have a very bad combo here for death wobble. The Goodyear 37's just from age are probably the culprit, then throw them on a rather heavy rim assembly and add more rotating mass beadlock rings...I can't even imagine what this would do. I would throw some fresh stock size tires on from another...

death wobble.. Fixing it with the steering stabilizer?

Try swapping your tires front to back and see if anything changes. I would also see if you could swap them out for a known good set.

    CUCV Mystery part?

I've run a few rigs with no stabilizer with oversized heavily offset tires with zero issues. They also had crossover steering with a good draglink angle, very tight frontend, and new knuckle bearings so it can be done. The stabilizer just adds drag to the whole system to prevent it from...

    Diagnosing the DB2 pump

Not really, it is just masking the root cause.

    Diagnosing the DB2 pump

Sounds like you should start at the fuel tank and work your way to the IP replacing everything along the way. It really is the only way to gain reliability in an old truck. All it takes is one old hose or bad clamp to wreak havoc.

Locker vs Limited slip in front axle of m1008

I may be talking about a different scenario. I think driving with a locker up front and one hub unlocked in 4wd won't hurt anything since you are applying torque and locking up the mechanism. In 2wd though, you are causing the unit to lock through the one driving hub which will cause more drag...

Locker vs Limited slip in front axle of m1008

I think this particular arrangement is less than desirable, your most traction should be on the rear wheels as a general rule of thumb. True tracs front and rear is a good idea. True Trac front and full Detroit rear is better but won't handle as good on the street. DO NOT UNLOCK ONE HUB WITH...

6.2 humvee engine loss of power.

Maybe the fuel return glass ball check valve is plugged? This all wreaks of fuel delivery issues. Maybe a plugged sock on the tank pickup?

6.2 humvee engine loss of power.

What are the odds that both sides fail at the same time? If the exhaust is restricted causing low airflow, wouldn't it blow black smoke in the upper throttle range?

Locker vs Limited slip in front axle of m1008

I'm assuming you actually wheel and want traction here and that this isn't just a web wheeling scenario. First, I would make sure my steering was dialed in. A front locker is going to do you no good if you can't point the wheels where you want to and it certainly won't do you any good if you...
