Depends on your definition of what constitutes cold I guess. The southeast "Panhandle", where I live currently, is closer to Canada than the rest of Alaska, and the climate is pretty much like the Pacific Northwest/Seattle but a little more extreme and a little colder. It varies drastically...

OK, here's how I'm looking at it. I'll try it for some amount of time (A month?) and see how it goes. Either I'll hate it and go get something else as an errand-runner and grocery-getter and commuter car (but keep the Deuce) or I'll love it and drive it every day. Thoughts?

I'd say, despite planning on driving one every day, that everything is just slightly harder on a Deuce. Door handles, window cranks, clutch pedal, steering, stopping, the ride, especially on a dirt road, etc. They're just very rattly and shaky in general, kind of disconcerting if you're not...

Great ideas! I don't know about spray foam since I don't live there yet (Although I do live in Alaska, but not the "cold" part yet). But good ideas on something other than foam board!

All good thoughts! Weatherstripping around windows/windshields? (except maybe driver's side window in case it needs to be rolled down quickly) -extra insulation could be done in the hard top easily...that pink or blue foam stuff.

I guess in the end it really depends on the cost of maintenance...and what you're willing to live with (Or without!).

Inspired by the "Deuce as a Daily Driver" thread, how many members drive their 939 series 5 ton every day, more or less everywhere they go? I'm considering getting one myself and daily-driving it. Just wondering what the numbers are for everyone else who does? I'm thinking it'll be unique...

I guess I'm not the only crazy one. I've considered owning a Deuce, as my first vehicle, and daily-driving it. Either that or a 939 series 5 ton. In the winter. In Alaska. Commuting between Fairbanks and Delta Junction.
