Stanadyne FM100 fuel management system upgrade

Unit is some type of composite, not steel. You get what you pay for. In the FM100's defense, so far have had no luck with steel Racor's twice the price. They seem to be no better at sealing the filter element than a plastic unit. I really wanted to add a petcock assembly to make bleeding easier...

TH400 Transmission to LDT-465 Multifuel Engine

Interesting So really home heating oil, offroad, and on road these days are pretty similar except for what the man takes out in taxes? It seems like fuel these days are getting so complicated whether gas or diesel. I'm only 29 and I can remember back to the good ol' days of MTBE (well not for...

TH400 Transmission to LDT-465 Multifuel Engine

I understand offroad now is all ULSD with dye. Would home heating oil be more comparable to diesel fuel before we switched to ULSD? What do you recommend for 2 stroke oil? The only thing I typically buy is Amsoil but my KDX200 consumes far less fuel than my M1031:D

Fuse size based on Cable/wire size, right?

From what I understand, you need a wire that is capable of carrying 100 amps of 12 volt current to the back batteries? If so, you would need 6 gauge which is good for 23 feet. I would probably go with 4 just to be one size larger which keeps voltage drop to a minimum. I have to disagree with...

TH400 Transmission to LDT-465 Multifuel Engine

I haven't tried running anything but street diesel in mine but you are telling me that the DB2 will hate life if you feed it offroad diesel, home heating oil, or K1 with a lot of additive from Stanadyne, Diesel Kleen, etc.?

TH400 Transmission to LDT-465 Multifuel Engine

Probably 12/21/12 :) Sorry, I know the rules but I couldn't resist! Something tells me he isn't going to make it. You will lose sleep thinking about your DB2 choking on some post-apocolyptic alternative fuel.

    Wiper electric trouble

RockAuto.com accepts PayPal I would also be checking for a short circuit or a jammed up wiper motor which would cause anything to smoke.

    Roller lifters?

Not much new going on other than lots of electronics and emission components. The only time something new will happen is the changeover to fuel cell technology. I showed my students yesterday how cool stratified fuel mixtures are made possible with direct fuel injection. Then I showed them how...

    Dana 44 swap, M1010

I think this has changed in the last few years. I think alot of guys on Pirate that do the one ton axle setup now use a D60 or D70 from an E350 van because it has more ground clearance, disc brakes, and accepts 35 spline axles without boring out the spindles. Of course you can't buy one for...

    Dana 44 swap, M1010

Not sure what the F means, could be front axle or Ford TTB designation. I believe what you are describing as a D44 carrier in a D60 housing would be the D50 used on Ford Super Duties with single rear wheels for the first few years. There is no such thing as a beefed up D44. Regardless of how...

    Dana 44 swap, M1010

Remove a D60 for a POS 8 lug D44...that is just simple madness! Why not find someone with a K30 looking to swap for deeper gears? Seems like a better idea than taking one of the best axles ever made and swapping it out for one of the biggest turds produced. Guys break D44's in Yotas and Jeeps...

    m1009 won't start need help !!

Kudos for helping people out in need. Maybe FEMA could use a couple of CUCV trucks... Are people in your area back to having power and fuel? I used to live in Orange County. That area always turned into a cluster during any kind of disasters.

New dash GEN1 GEN2 workaround ideas.

No problem! As soon as I read that, I immediately could here my high school shop teacher yelling in my ear..."YOU CANT MEASURE BULB RESISTANCE TO CALCULATE AMPERAGE!!!!!!" He was good at his job, I could only hope that I verbally assault my students enough for that to happen.

    m1009 won't start need help !!

First, good for you going to help people out in a bad area. Even better using a CUCV! Second, I don't think it was intended that you convert your truck back to 24v while in a flood zone. I think the intention was no one on here can help you troubleshoot because your system is no longer stock...

New dash GEN1 GEN2 workaround ideas.

Replacing vehicle alternator warning lamp with LED Very good reading for something you are looking to do. I am very good with automotive electronics but am by no means an electrical engineer. Looks like these guys have discussed replacing the charge lamp with an LED and using the correct...

New dash GEN1 GEN2 workaround ideas.

I dig this idea but you can't use a bulbs resistance value because it drastically changes when you light it up. Measure amperage through the gen light instead. Then take the voltage and divide it by the amperage. This will give you the correct resistance value you need. I'm sure if you googled...

M1008 shackle flip & driveshaft help

Couldn't tell you about the shackle flip. I have the ORD one and was impressed with the build quality. Don't mark the shaft. It is balanced as an assembly and installation orientation has no effect on balance. Every factory manual will tell you to mark it but it doesn't matter in this case.
