I only used a generator once in 5 years over there. The fridge uses propane in the trailer and the lights are 12v.

You want to take a simple fix and instead swap out the engine? Hmmm, like replacing your breaker panel in your house to fix a burned out light bulb. Fix the radiator, check the injectors in the MF (make sure they are all correct), run the valves to make sure they are correctly adjusted...

You can always take it off and fill it with Evaporust and let sit over night. Rinse it out and it will look just fine.
