Doing both sides would help resist any twisting. It sounds like a great idea if the door seems to "want"/ need it.

Sounds like you got a LOT done today. 3M makes a real inexpensive swab you can use in the space of 5 seconds to confirm lead. It's like $10 for a pack of 3 if I remember right. Almost any general hardware or paint supply store will probably carry them. Here's a link: http://leadcheck.com/

The tubing looked to me like it was 1/2" (O.D.), which is what threw me off. I would figure 1/4" tubing for any brake lines. What's the diameter of that tubing?

That tube straightener is slick. Where do you typically use tubing runs like that (I'm not familiar with it), for fluids or is it EMT for wiring runs (or both)?!
