Can I take the 6.2l out and put a 454 in

@Rusty Stud did it I believe.

    I think I messed up. Won't start

When the solenoids fail, it's an intermittent thing. They're extremely voltage sensitive. A battery that will vigorously crank the truck won't always actuate that solenoid.

Heavier u-joint on wreckers and tractors ?

I'm guessing not, for the following reasons- 1) I haven't observed a difference 2) the TM doesn't differentiate 3) The way the military thinks, if the wrecker and tractor needed a heavier one they'd simply spec the heavier one for all trucks in the series in the name of standardization...

    I think I messed up. Won't start

You can remove the solenoid entirely and just use the pull on the dash.

    1983 M-923 Brake stuck

A 3lb sledgehammer to the outside of the drum. You can't hurt it.

    Headlight Help

Like you, I'm extremely reluctant to go yanking on 20 year old electrical cables. It would be terrible to damage a wiring harness because a headlight failed. Here's how I'd do it- I'd take a known good headlight and plug it in and see if it works. Surely someone around you has one . This will...

    lsmft

That's close to 40 hours of seat time - plan accordingly. I have no comments on the route selection. I acquired a new to me M35A2C last week and drove it about 600 miles home. It was two easy, mostly enjoyable days. Completely uneventful as far as problems go. A couple years ago I acquired...

6 micron or 2 micron fuel filter

I'd go finest filter available and keep an extra on hand for if it clogs.

    ABS malfunction

Weak batteries will frequently cause ABS failure. Even batteries that crank the truck fairly well.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

It doesn't even take that level of effort. Freehand the black and brown splotches. The overspray you get makes the edges less abrupt and it looks better. It's really difficult to get wrong.

Hydraulic fan engaging often on 6.5 GEP

Normal. Cycles on and off every couple of minutes while driving at highway speeds.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Overcharging. Badness. Should be adjustable, unless the voltage regulator has completely failed. I don't remember the adjustment procedure.

    M927 water tender idle issues

I suspect someone tampered with the manual primer pump and failed to return it all the way in. This is worth checking....

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Your speedo should read 38/42 of actual speed. Mine reads 38/45.

    EMP Proofing HMMWV

One version of an EMP attack is to detonate the device outside of the atmosphere. The blast and thermal effects are nil. Gamma radiation is greatly attenuated, and fallout is minimal. This also gives the largest area exposed to the EMP effects, and would be used when the EMP is the primary...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Yeah, it's the same engine and transmission as the other M35A2s. The transfer case is the air shift variety. They didn't go to the Allison auto until they went with the Cat engine in the A3. The increased cruising speed is directly attributable to the 395's. First gear is low enough that the...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

It's an '87. One of the late AF trucks with the dual circuit brakes. White multifuel with the D turbo. Driving it about 550miles home, with a stop on the way to pick up a tcase for an 809series truck. Cruising at an indicated 48mph, which should be right about 60 actual. It'll go faster, but...
