May want to post this in the 5ton forum. My guess says a moderator will be along shortly to move it.
As for me, I'd just control them with a switch in the cab and call them "rear work lights", but state requirements vary so ymmv...
My market assessment -
The market is currently WAY HIGH. Auction trucks are going for more than I could reasonably expect to get for them retail.
Usually you'd pay a premium for a private sale. That premium covers such things as not having to wait for an EUC and getting to look the truck...
You could take a semitrailer full of spares and tools and the odds are you wouldn't need what you brought, but you may very well need something else....
This isn't an auction truck. (I've done bunches of those)
You plan to drive it all over after you get it home. Roll the dice and make the...
It's an invitation to contact them and negotiate a price.
I've made a couple of attempts, but my experience has been that they want more than the stuff sells for on ebay.
I agree. And that doesn't put you on the wrong side of any laws.
Unfortunately, you're on the radar now and subject to being harrassed to the point you can't drive it anyway.
Many states have laws requiring you to register a vehicle where you reside, within X number of days of establishing residence. Plates from elsewhere are deemed invalid, and operating the vehicle with them becomes a crime. (As opposed to just a traffic violation).
Although I am unaware of the...
There are a lot of threads about converting to dual circuit, and the consensus seems to be that it just isn't feasible. See clinto's post in the deuce forum..
Correlation doesn't prove causation, but it certainly suggests it don't you think? I watch with interest to see what he finds when he disassembles the engine.
What's your plan for the transmission? Just hope it doesn't fail?
Turning up an empty unloaded truck that is driven on flat ground is...
I no longer have anything with an 8.3, although I have had many of them in the past.
I currently have three 5ton trucks, and they all have the NH250. One of them was modified by the previous owner. It has EGT and a turbo, although apparently the fuel was not turned up. (It gets noticeably...
In stock form it's a gutless turd that will live forever.
Turn it up all you want. It's still a gutless turd except now it will catastrophically fail at any moment.
You want more power? Put in a big cam Cummins with the appropriate transmission and transfer case. This is probably the...
There's several. They all come with their own trade offs.
Just like there's no simple straightforward fix to it.
If either of these existed, you'd see all of us doing it....
Edit - the simple solution is to not use low range reverse. Just shift the t- case to high range when going into...
Personally, I like the idea of removing the washer and makING the front axle engage only by the switch on the dash. That gives you high 6, low 6, high 4, and unlike stock trucks it also gives you low 4.
And running low range 4 in reverse would seem to me to place less strain on the transfer...
