I've had to drain/clean a tank full of crap while on the road before.
I went to a walmart, bought a 55 gal trash can and a 5 gal fuel can. He can pull the tank off and set it on the garbage can, and remove the bottom drain plug. Then, put a can of carb and choke cleaner in the hole, then snake...
Is the big picture here, this guy just bought a truck that has sat for years, and with no prep or experience, he is driving from NY to Fla? Does he have any parts with him or any tools or a chase car? I know in his other thread where he was planning to drive it home to Maine(500 miles), did...
Here just one of a few threads on this. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/auxillary-equipment/64455-mep-002a-mep-003a-replacement-oil-pressure-switch.html
Do an advanced search in the aux eq forum for "starter pressure switch", for more.
I thought he was from Maine. Isn't he going to Maine?
I have one truck that is a dog and slow(top speed) without a working in-tank pump.
If the air-pack was causing drag(due to air pressure buildup), I have "cracked" the drivers side glad hand valve, to eliminate the pressure build up in an...

Then you have the procrastination factor(we all have that to some level).
In a way, the relay issue is...
I always start with the pedal depressed a bit. Never have the light on dim, and the fast idle solenoid drops into place easier. Hot or cold, it's just a habit to me.
I rebuilt my alts with low cut in regulators, and it eliminates the light issue.
So. with a few minutes of thought, It came back to me! We have discussed this before! I did a search(copied and pasted part of the TM quote"relays on vehicles prior to July 1985") and BAM, there it is.
This info was posted on post # 66 of the DogHead relay Mod Poll thread...
I found it. Page 2-75. It's in my 1988 dated TM.
I'm afraid there is just no way to know, if you have an updated relay or not.
By design, the relay I recommend modifying to will not stick on.
I didn't even consider that you were not trying to be helpful.
My first thought was, "I'll be darned, this guy is reading his TMs and learning and sharing!" Rock on!
Do you know what the print date on the TM is?
I have to admit, I have not noticed this info in my TM.
Honestly, all...
