Agreed there; it's hard not to like anything armored.
Wonder what the deal is with the perforated plank at the front "fender"position:
- Maybe as extraction back-up when stuck (remove, and place under the offending wheel-kind-of-thing, you think)?
Because WHY would armor need a bumper, right!!?

That's one thing I'll say as a taxpayer, regarding the USMC:
- We all get more bang-for-the-buck from the Corps than any other U.S. Government agency out there.
If every federal agency ran as efficiently as the USMC, none of us as taxpayers would have any complaint about paying taxes. But, too...

I'm not saying that applies to your rig, or that there's any validity to it; just that I saw that mentioned recently as a kind of market rate.
There might be something to what you say. It's like the Metric issue:
- Once you've used Metric, it makes a whole lot more sense, AND makes life easier, than working with Imperial measurements (like are you kidding 1/16's and 1/32's!?)
- But the inertia of the "old method" doesn't want to...
