I'd heat it AND spray it with atf. Probably multiple times over a few days.

I'm pretty sure there is 24v and 12v heaters. I know when I rebuilt mine it was asked 12 or 24v. Since yours is not stock, maybe you need to find out if its 12v cause I bet 24v would put a hurtin on it.
