It definitely has to be seen (and smelled) to be believed, seeing it on TV just doesn't compare to the all-surrounding personal experience. I have been in on the aftermath of several now, and hope not to have to do so again now that I have retired. But if one hits nearby again...
Cheers
I'm going, with Scott aka Reloader64 and Sam aka Pawnshop.
Too far (1300 miles one way) for us to bring any MVs, so we'll just be poking around looking at everything.
It's a longshot, but I'll be looking for an AN/UGC-74B teletype for my M348 command post trailer.
Cheers
The grill that comes with the kit is for a V150, and has the upper extension with the exhausts through it. The grill itself is solid.
Going through my photo files and references, I did not find any USAF M706E2s with the exhaust pipes coming through the upper extension.
I don't recall seeing...
Lonestar MVPA is far from dead, though our website does appear to be down at the moment...
As El Presidente of said organization, I guess I need to look into that ASAP!
By the way, the shorter guy in the picture at the top is me, and I'm 6' tall, gives you an idea of why he is called...
Absolutely splendid attention to the details! I'm really enjoying watching you build this.
Having seen how much effort you are putting into this, are you going to rework the grill over the exhausts? (That big scoop on the back of the hull).
Cheers
Wow!! Very cool!
I am usually a "bone stock" guy when it comes to MVs, but I'll admit to doing a slightly modified M715 myself. ;)
It had already strayed far from stock, I just changed it back a bit to what I wanted it to be.
What engine, trans/trans are you planning?
The markings are very...
Perhaps try the old fashioned 2x12(s) on the trailer floor at the back, to raise the rear of the golf cart enough to clear the tailgate? I've used that trick a few times to get a few extra inches of clearance.
I'd sure like to see the rest of that M715!
Cheers
Anything from 3/5 would have a UIC between M11181 and M11187. If the black mark in your picture is an L, Lima 3/5 would have UIC M11187.
M00880 is MACS-1 MACG-38. Or in plain terms, Marine Air Control Squadron 1, Marine Air Control Group 38, based on MCAS Yuma, AZ
Anyway, there is the...
Rowdy, my wife's co-pilot and guardian for 14 years. Veteran of many roadtrips, parades, and other MV events. He left us last year.
Never thought an ankle-biter could win me over, but he was a wonderful little fellow.
Cheers
If you can find the UIC, it will be an M followed by five numbers, I can likely tell you what unit it belonged to.
On Humvees, the UIC is usually somewhere along the sides in front of or below the doors, and sometimes on the back.
In the photo, M11400 is 1st CEB (combat engineers) on Camp...
As D6T mentions, it does have a resemblance to Brit Sankey trailers, of which there are many variations.
It could also be US because there were just so many different types, from a bunch of manufacturers, used in smaller numbers during and after WWII.
It would look nice fixed up, and with some...
Most of y'all on here already know this -
Technically, the term is "lock ring" rather than split ring. What scares most folk is not understanding the difference between these type wheels and the old split rims of which many horror stories are told.
In 20+ years of dealing with these lock-ring...
The question has been answered by the Evil Doc, this is just for general information.
The only time I can think of that you'd see six lugs on an M101 is back when they were used with M715s, and then only if the trailer had lost a tire in the field and had the M715's spare on it. So very...
Please clarify which M151 in the picture is the one being voted on.
From the nomination thread - " I nominate my M151a1. (MERDC in the rear) "
This to me says it is the MERDC camo one behind the OD one, which means we're voting on a vehicle that we haven't really seen yet?
The first...
