I would say that for short term parking on asphalt a deuce isn't going to hurt it if it has any type of base underneath it (I worked on an asphalt crew for 3 years during college). If there is no base under it and the asphalt is thin then there is nothing you can do. As far as turning you will...
When replacing a seal on the X-fer case on my deuce I found all of my driveline bolts were loose. Tightened them all down and checked them after 500 miles, non have came loose but I'm going to pull them all and loctite them this spring.
The onsite guys have a habit of being too lazy and this is the typical photo quality. Past sales of trucks from IA that I have inspected have usually brought the following configs:
Most if not all have had heaters
All have been air shift
Interiors are typical for usage, not destroyed but not...
Ok guys, this thread has ran its course. Opinions and only opinions have been stated, no real "hard" data has been posted and now its turning into a yelling match. Enough is enough; its time for it to quit.
Stumps,
Take it easy with the chest pounding I know it all tone of the posts ok. You have not posted any factual data on any of the posts in this thread, just your opinion......which is the same as the rest of us who have posted. You stated you trust "Bob" like you knew him, but I'm not...
Another way of getting the same results is to bypass the FDC on the IP. There are a lot of threads covering this as well, but like stated above you have to be careful.
No problem and welcome to the site. Yes that is the Gunny in my avatar. I was on the show "Lock and Load" on the History Channel with him last year. Was on the tanks episode driving an M60A3 over a Caddy. Do a search on youtube for "Lock and Load Tanks" episodes 4 and 5.
The plugs missing are vents for the clutch housing. When you go in deep water you take the plug right beside it out of its storage locations (where it currenlty is in your picture) and put it in the bottom of the housing.
Not sure on the IP question.
The line on the MC is a vent, it is a...
Another one that gets mis-wired a lot are the headlights. Easiest way to determine if they're mis-wired is if on low beam you high beam indicator glows a little bit (you will still see it get brighter when going to high). It was that way on my deuce, once I changed it over the light was off on...
I run Lucas in my engine oil. 2 quarts with every change. Does it help? I don't know but I build full oil pressure in around 8 seconds or less with my STOCK OIL FILTERS.
I'm a bad guy for not wanting to convert to spin ons I know.
Fuse for the fuel pump is under the small cover on top of the fuel tank. 3 screws hold the cap on. Follow the wires on top of the fuel tank and you'll find the cap I'm talking about. If you have a leak up top you're getting air in the system and thats why its starting hard.
One thing for you guys to make sure of with this tank is verifying the parking brake releases when you put it in gear. We had a guy driving one of our M60A3's around with the one side locked and he didn't realize it. Lets just say the brake bands imploded inside the transmission and it was one...
Most of the time when they demil tanks (not the new requirements, talking older ones) they either removed the breech block entirely or welded it shut. The barrels were left open.
