Huge thanks!
WOW, guys if you haven't had Wreckerman help on a pickup, I can tell you he knows his stuff is most importantly, IS ABOUT HOW STUFF GETS DONE, NOT WHY IT CAN'T BE!
How many times do people say what can't be done... instead of how it can. He is in Jacksonville pickup of our Mk48s...
Thanks!
We all owe Andy a big thanks... his coordination is really making this effort and excellent example... and Wreckerman's expertise on the ground will be invaluable... takes a lot of anxiety out of the situation!
Chocks
Hey all,
Well all this talk has me wondering what size chocks I'll need for the Mk48 LVS?
There is actually a chock carrying rack on the rear left fender...
Anyone know what the proper chocks look like for the LVS and where i can get a set?
Thanks!
Check
Check you state laws...
In Indiana and Ohio and I believe KY, the CDL specifically states FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES and defines it as being paid to drive. Therefore you don't need any CDL to drive a unit...
Quote
Talked to my broker today, and told him the prices were over what we expected...
After talking directly to him found out the problem... he quoted all removable gooseneck trailers (the kind i need for my tanks) all there on the same day. He may rebid, but we should continue onward!
Thanks!
Update
Hey all,
Yep, it may make the drive down, but I don't think I'll do the trails with her!
Ok, on the transport... here are the costs:
This is roll on / roll off... coordinated so all trucks are there same day... roll trailer and same day made the numbers a little more than I expected...
Shipping
My broker is working to have all vehicles there on a single day. I think you covered the info really well Wreckerman... one thing that may be important is if the unit is currently attached to the trailer. For shipping, they will need to be attached. The trailer is unmovable so I've...
Hey all,
Whats the length of the M927/928 bed? I just picked up a Mk48/14 and I'd like to see if the M927/928 bed could be put on the Mk14 bed... I'd like to have sides and rails on it...as I can't yet find a Mk17 trailer.
Thanks
Weight
Guys,
According to the TM the curb weight of the Mk48/14 is 41,300... so we should be fine on weight... width is good too... however length is interesting... almost 40 feet! Thats a squeaker on a trailer!
Update
Guys,
I've sent a preliminary email to my shipping broker, however these guys are THOROUGH and they need final address locations.
I have alerted them that there will be one to Indiana, one to St. Louis, two to Safety Harbor FL, one to St. Paul MN, one to Wisconsin.
However I must...
Coordination
i think having Wreckerman head over and work with trucking loading is a fantastic idea... perhaps as an onsite supervisor directing load out etc.
I know it ALWAYS helps having someone familiar with MVs be there to start drive, and oversee loading / tiedown. You can't always trust...
Intersted
I'm interested...
If you guys can get me addresses where yours are going, I have a shipping broker I work with that moves my tanks. I could see if we could get a volume discount of some sort.
Dave
Right
He's right...
I read the entire Commercial Vehicle Safety Act of 1986, and it is strictly covering the enforcement of commercial activity. If you are driving for private use, inside your own state (it appears that you could be challenged due to interstate commerce clause if crossing...
