    Truck violently bouncing

be lucky you don't have a trailer, as I was telling someone about cold cummins engine - the same trucking book author also mentioned that having to deal with flat spots on tires till they had warmed up was one thing but to back into an equally-frozen trailer was double the punishment with two...

    New member from Australia

an aussie tatra? must be first time I have heard of that myself humour aside, seriously tho i've had a small interest in the 'hooded' tatra for quite a long time by now (sometimes I wonder if theres any not-russia-language book on them but mm) as the 100-series is a very long generation of...

    M818 Benmar Arctic Heater Installation

never seen many fuel heaters but have always liked them in general tho, seriously plan on one for my upcoming truck (whether the heater unit is an ex-military used one or a new/used commercial truck one is up for eventual debate but mm) as well nothing like just a little bit of power draw and...

    New Here! Bear with me....

interesting little vehicle thats for sure.. even then i'm curious if the jerry can 'shelf' is a factory or diy one there? and hmm looking at the beefy/continuous rails I just have to wonder if thats an engine-powered winch on it?

    interesting classic landrover..

and it looks like they basically ripped the entire factory body off immediately behind the engine and put their own on instead (although I could hope that these are not factory-provided fender panels..or thats pretty much very minimal protection for sideway weapon fire at-to the engine itself...

    Turbo vs no turbo

and hey @NY Tom don't forget to include the PRR GG1 as a 'honourable steam-era electric locomotive' too if you would like..or to recount; body and/or chassis was built at a shop that did steam locomotive tenders, spoked wheels just like steam locomotives, cast iron bell, hot in summer and cold...

    Turbo vs no turbo

not to be too offtopic here but @HDN right now I somewhat recall these two (theres more but my memory is a little stuck up tonight) particular interesting older locomotive quirks and maybe these are a bit related to certain military trucks too; long inline engine that were known a few times to...

    Turbo vs no turbo

@HDN and others, this enough oily smoke for an alco?

    Turbo vs no turbo

As far as I recall the turbo on that particular engine was simply to clean up emission alone more or less, it didn't exactly have a large (relatively speaking) net performance gain in that respect so .. as one always say: take this tidbit with your own grain of salt

    Dead Pilot's M38a1

not to cause anyone to laugh but I sure hope that thing will get one or better two cushion pads before it ever gets driven anywhere! me can't help thinking what would happen to your poor "pulverized" kidney if you try drive that thing like it is now!!

Steel Soldiers MV of the month 2024 - March VOTE HERE!

@Migginsbros oh and before i forget about you, I know that when you get used to it it seem like a normal thing but still I mean any time anyone sees an interior photo even if for the very first time its too easy to tell that its an unimog and nothing else you know? and regarding getting used to...

Steel Soldiers MV of the month 2024 - March VOTE HERE!

@MatthewWBailey I simply was curious and searched 'tall driver in small car' online, somehow managed to find this one https://i.ytimg.com/vi/IdnyoeNRV4c/maxresdefault.jpg and also "what..the.." to this one https://i.pinimg.com/736x/48/8b/2c/488b2c0128170c12174e4f6db44a5dd5.jpg (and look at that...

Steel Soldiers MV of the month 2024 - March VOTE HERE!

someone get @kendelrio to stand next to an offroad dump truck tire if we want to have a bit of pointless "honey I shrunk the kid!" level of kidding? hehehe!!! (I mean he won't be able to rest his elbow anywhere but literally on the tire hub itself?)

Steel Soldiers MV of the month 2024 - March VOTE HERE!

@Migginsbros regarding being in front of that white/red/white plane, I know its not military but I'm curious about whats on its belly? I sorta wanted to assume oil-to-air cooler but mm I could be wrong. And as for your later interior shot I don't know about you but as soon as I see several...

    Chucky's Worst Nightmare?

hey I thought of something else a little silly, is the interior relatively waterproof? if so then talk about just simply tossing clean clothes (and any other water-sensitive things) out then tilt the camper and get a good hose .. just make sure the ground behind the vehicle won't mind an onrush...

    Chucky's Worst Nightmare?

@NDT well I have never seen a cabover that had an over-cab shell either because of the problem of allowing the cab to still tilt for engine access, so this custom camper tilt design is clever if you ask me?

MV of the month March 2024

@kendelrio ah just in case of confusion indeed I wasn't talking about toward the middle of the roof but these two plank-like things seemingly bolted vertically off the frame around doors themselves (and btw funny re predator and escaped hunter tho hehe)

MV of the month March 2024

no problem @kendelrio just found the two rack-like thing hanging past the door top a bit unusual in an interesting way anyway I like the way you took that photo tho, it looks like one of these "clomping the hills looking for a certain someone/something" kind of stance

The Rise and Fall of the Humvee?

unrelated but as I recall this was for a good part why the Iltis and alike were often shortly retired or reassigned to some non-military tasks .. they may had been good at scouting in the first place but the lack of bomb protection etc basically wrote their army-related uses off for good
