I didn't mess with the fuel filter as I completely bypassed it using the garden sprayer. But yes, you're correct, I need to look at it as it is a possible issue. I ran out of time this weekend before I could get to removing the filter (and I'm still waiting on a new one to show up).
I did put...
I did exercise the springs and levers. When I removed the IP cover, I could tell they were goo'ed up and not moving even though I could hear the solenoid click. A little bit of carb cleaner got them freed up. I sucked all the gunk out of the IP cavity and then filled it back up with clean...
Just picked up a M1097R1 from GP. The auction description it stated no batteries so nothing was operationally tested. I knew it would be a bit of a gamble but from the pics it was clean enough for me to roll the dice but now it's sitting on the trailer with a crank-no start issue. I have a...
Haha! Yes, I agree with you completely. I misunderstood as I thought you were talking about printing the arm itself. Sorry, I was stuck on a lot of information I get about 3D printing of metal parts for prototyping. I think I'm good with finding a knob. I was just going to weld a threaded...
Yes, I tried the usual folks like Memphis, Midwest, Army6x6, Oskosh, etc. Usually google will pull up a few items on the NSN or part number but none at this time. This is such a minor simple part that fabbing one up is probably the way to go.
DeMil- I appreciate the offer to 3d print one...
After no one replied for a couple days, I did start thinking about fabbing one up. I don't have a plasma cutter so was thinking maybe using 1/4" thick, 1" wide flat stock from the orange big box store. Would make a reverse L-shape and like you said, any cool knob on top would suffice. I...
M929A2 dump truck. As subject says, I need a replacement lever to engage the PTO in the cab but I've not had luck in the usual sources. It's thingy #12 (and 10, 11 preferably) in the attached sheets from the -24P. Any non-obvious sources I should try?
With the pump off and I'm researching rebuild options, what other things do I need to consider?
-Bumping up the HP would be nice as this is my "parade" M923 that's about to be singled out with 16.00s. I'm assuming a bump will help with bigger tires but have no idea what's a good bump without...
I looked at Wes's video on removing the PT pump and decided I could take a swing at pulling off it quickly. Within an hour (including watching Wes's video) it was boxed and in back of my truck as I head back home. Thanks, Wes.
And yes, the front looks good- spins freely but the gear pump on...
I was afraid of that. Okay- I'll do the research on R&R of the fuel pump as I think it requires a special half moon wrench. It may be a bit before I can remove the pump as I'm out all next month but it doesn't look too bad as a project. Just need to figure out what to do with the pump once...
I pulled the dampener and intake fitting off and had Soldier B crank. Looks like the gear pump is not turning, right?

Are you referring to the banjo bolt on the outside of the pump closest to the front of the engine with a line running down the side of the engine and back to the tank? If so that is an overflow valve to keep the fuel pressure in the PT pump at a constant pressure. Like you said, the little...
You may want to see if you can "de convert" back to 24v while it's back at Memphis. I know it sucks paying double for nothing but it might be better in the end.
Lastly, there a many, many 24v to 12v dc converters available on Amazon built for exactly what you're looking to do. Lots of folks...
If I can find those beadlocks, I'll look for a NSN or PN on them. But yeah, I just gave up on using beadlocks on those set of 16.00 tires on combat wheels. Thought it was more than 1/4" of issue for me but it's been a while. I want to say I even tried to remove the rubber strips to help but I...
Thanks, Will. I'll be sure to take care when working the filter cap. I didn't know the PT body was aluminum- I'll be careful snugging up anything that touches it. The inlet is an elbow so good info on removing the damper to be able to look at the gear pump. And yeah, Diesel Creek is a great...
I've had trouble using the steel/rubber beadlock with 16.00s. The steel/rubber beadlock came out of 395s and were too wide to use on the 16.00s by almost an inch (it's been a while since I tried it). The only thing I could think of was the 16.00 Goodyear bead was thicker than the Michelin 395...
Oh...and never pay for a military manual for anything unless you're hankering for a paper version. WAAAAYYYY too many folks and websites trying to help you/me/us out by keeping the military manuals free and available.
Don't forget there is a sticky with a spreadsheet that has most of the civilian equivalent part numbers you'll need. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/5-ton-parts-quick-reference-spreadsheet.82404/
I haven't dug into my brakes but I'm willing to bet you can find pretty much all the brake...
