Looks like those are the distorted version where they slightly compress them to make them out of round enough to become self-locking. Are the OEM version on the LMTV/FMTV like this? Not that it matters...just really really curious what the standard issue was.
I'll call them in the morning- thanks
Looking for a source of quality flange nuts for studs that LMTV wheels together. Need at least 60 but will take a hundred since 20 per wheel.
Any recommendations?
Second on the above. Supporting our own is a good thing.
On the flip side, I purchased two new M939 mufflers off Ebay for $90 each shipped to the front door in 3 days.
Yup- good idea. For the cost of the torque stick or decent breaker bar, I can buy a torque multiplier and keep it in the truck. Nice video for it too.
And I generally coat all lugs and other high torque items with a copper anti-seize as you mention. A little bit of it goes a long way.
Forgot to add two items:
First, if you want a 'better' grade of battery, go with industrial series (for rigs and heavy equipment like dozers) as they are built to withstand lots of vibration. The internals for industrials are built heavier than than the standard Costco, Walmart, Autozone, etc...
I picked up two group 65's from Costco for $110 each and they crank my M923 just fine. Costco batts are Interstates and have a 3 year no questions asked replacement warranty. Unless you plan to go deep in the boondocks or move to the frigid north (ie- anything above Waco in my opinion), two...
I'm slowly building my pile of tools and items to super single out my M923 with 16.00r20's.
I have all the tires and wheels but still need the shoulder lug nuts for the front HEMTT wheels, new o-rings and air stems for regular combat wheels for the rear axles.
I tried to breakdown a couple...
Charlesmann- You could to mount the upper elbow on the up-pipe like a muffler delete in a tempary fashion just to see what the sound is like. But I'm also sure your A2 will sound much different than my old school M923.
Wes- If you say there is no alternative, there is NO alternative. Thanks
Aaahhh- that's explains why I didn't find much on my search as I was using 'muffler gasket' versus 'exhaust gasket'. Thanks for the link! Memphis only shows one gasket for bottom side that connects with the flex hose. Is there also one on top?
And since I have two trucks who need...
I'm replacing my muffler on the M923 with NHC250 (I think same muffler regardless of engine?). It's the typical rusted out around the bottom and a safety hazard. Anyone know a civilian part number for the gaskets? Or a way to use some other sealer besides the OEM gasket?
Singling out my M923 to 1600r20's. I have two HEMMT wheels for the front and the two piece combat wheels for the rears. Latest 'right' answer I saw was to buy the shouldered lugs (pic attached) on the fronts for the HEMMT wheels and then re-use the original front lug nuts for the rear combat...
btw- what is the hydraulic set up for a M929? I heard the hydraulics for a M925 (or any other M939's with winch) is too low pressure to operate the hoist on the M929 so curious about the system. And really curious then how the M930 (dump w/winch) is set up on the hydraulics. I know the...
I think part of problem is the M929 is on the short frame wheelbase (same as M931) and there's not enough room to have a decent size bed and room for a spare. If the extra foot of M923 wheelbase was incorporated, the load would shift forward
Help me understand a bit more of the extra length statement. Are you referring to the length of the frame that extends past the rear axle? I know the wheelbase for a M929 or M931 is the short version at 13' 11" and the wheel base for the M923/M925 is a foot longer at 14' 11" but I'm guessing...
I agree that drop sides are a good feature to keep. Luckily, my M923 with troop bed and drop sides is in pretty good shape. My M925...well, it's not so much in good shape. It was used as Volunteer Fire Department water truck and i think either they used some type of fire retardent or had a...
I'm referring to the added steel I circled in red in this pic. I'm assuming the item circled in green is a guide for the bed to sit square but I don't know what's circled in red.
That's a really nice setup and your shop does quality work. I see the box guides sticking up from the frame but did you also beef up the frame? I can't make out what was added to the frame in the lower right part of the pick...just to the right of the box guide.
