    Squeaky belt

If a serpentine belt is squealing there is something wrong, if it is squealing when the engine is revved up I would check to make sure it has enough tension, look at the pulley alignment closely, as mentioned before all new HMMWV owners should check all the alt. mounting bolts as that is a VERY...

    M1152 fan issue

In my opinion, ditch the whole system and go for the viscious fan clutch, best upgrade I ever did, no hydrualics, TDMs, or Cadillac valves to worry about. You may want to check your Temperature Sensor, TDM, & Cadillac valve, I kept having these go out which made the fan stay on, here's a good...

    m998a1 mpg

A Hummer H1 group had a person who tried to install a 6L80E behind a 6.5. He posted that it did not go well. He stated that the 6.5 does not have the ponies to support a six speed tranny. He stated that he was unable to use the sixth gear or cruise at higher speeds. I only read his posts. I was...

What is the best power steering pump?

Yes thank you for the info, Mine has the Duramax fan kit on it so it no longer has the Cadillac valve. I has a regular clutch fan. So I may be able to use the non military one.

What is the best power steering pump?

the OP stated the truck is an m1165, based on your statement you have an rcsk18330 pump, that doesn’t work in a truck with Remote PS reservoir, it’s for m998’s and A2 trucks and the occasional M1113. The rcsk18330 pump has a higher BAR than what is generally available, it’s to support the MM Winch.

What is the best power steering pump?

I just went through this a couple of months ago for my M998. I was upgrading to a 200 amp generator and I noticed a few drips coming out of the PS pump. I figured this was the time to do it as otherwise most of the stuff would have to come off again. I got one off of Fleabay for $266. Yes, I...

What is the best power steering pump?

Yes, there can be a difference. When I was searching last year, I found many p[umps that had the right part number but turned out to be for civilian 6.5 Diesel applications. The civilian version of the steering pump does not account for the HMMWV fan clutch pressure, and as a result can lack...

    Manual transmission LMTV?

All true, and must be factored in. Parts availability is probably higher for the FMTV as well. I'm told A3 wheels on an A2 with the right tires eliminates a lot of those issues, I don't know yet because I'm brand new. If there's no reliable way to put a manual in an fmtv, an A2 on super singles...

    Manual transmission LMTV?

M35's are great - for parades. And if you want the engine to last any significant amount of time you will run primarily diesel in it - all "other" fuels were emergency authorization only. I worked on and drove a lot of those turds (52D Motorpool vet) and the FMTV replaced it for GREAT reasons...

    cooling fan switch thread size?

like all civilian style viscous fan clutches, it locks up based on temp flowing across the thermostat on the clutch, I’ve been installing these on trucks in my shop, so it maintains an overall lower temp, the OEM setup is on and off, doesn’t come on till 220, the OEM fan is a 14k CFM, it moves a...

. Wow! Sharp! Hate that you got "done" on the deal the first time around, but hopefully the new fitment for the new power plant is your first move toward happiness.

    M1152A1 LS & 6L80e Conversion

Hello there All... I've been lurking around the forums for a while and have finally decided to post about my 2006 M1152A1 HMMWV. I initially purchased it from a specialty restoration company in Quebec. They found the M1152A1 in Texas, as an ex USMC unit, imported it and restored it. For the...

Another update. FP installed....no room for a socket, so hand jive an open end wrench, CHECK. Fuel filter can installed. CHECK. @BLK HMMWV was there to give me a hand today. He looked at the filter and can and says, "hey, this thing is cracked!" I say, BS, it rings like a bell. Well, when...

Received 2002 M1097A2 for firetruck build - looking for advice

For the fan, my recommendations.. With the engine off, can you spin the fan blades? If you can, the clutch might not be any good. When the engine running, unplug the power lead to the cadillac valve (by the washer tank on the drivers side cowl under the hood). If the clutch is working well...

    The next Project an ASMH

You are correct about the carb. The linkage was frozen and things weren't right in things attached to the linkage. The accelerator pump was also stuck. I was able to lube things up and get the linkage working but the operation was a bit wanky, it would stick when depressing the pedal sometimes...

    serpentine belts

The proper belt is determined by the pulley, not the truck model or generator type, a -3 is for a clutch pulley equipped truck.

    Q: Fan Clutch Hose R&R

Yet another request from the collective on a shortcut or procedures to help me save tearing up my hands, destroying my radiator, or breaking my fan. Once the Florida Inferno subsides in 5 months, I am going to replace all the V-Belts on my M998 6.2 NA and replace the Fan Clutch Host with one of...
