So, I started my 1986 M925A0 after a 4 year "nap" (had to slave it off from my M1031 CUCV truck - bad batteries...).
Have my M1082 trailer sold, so hitched up to pressure wash it and my 5 ton.
Upon pressure washing the 5 ton, I notice several areas of peeling paint under the bed (outside CARC...
So last month finally got to my 1986 M1009 "tan" I acquired from Illinois last year.
Bought it with the radiator stolen, all battery cables cut and stolen, batteries stolen and a few broke out windows.
Get it rewired and was hard to start, but started after years of sitting in the PO's lot.
I...
I sent two emails to surplus@pvtjarhead.com to buy some RT 524 parts and questions about his "display" and nearly complete RT 524 radios and have not received a reply yet...
I read that his buddy and RT 524 "expert" passed away recently.
Does anyone know what his status is?
Thanks for any info.
All,
I just found out (today) from Gary's wife Jane that Gary passed away last Nov 30, 2020 from a battle with cancer.
I knew Gary outside of Steel Soldiers and he was truly a nice guy and an "expert" on all military commo from the 70's and 80's...
She wrote me that they are closed and have...
Hello CUCV Fans,
I haven't posted in a long time, but check the Classified every day for "deals"...
Always wanted a CUCV ambulance as we had them in my USAR M110 8" Self Propelled Howitzer battalion and were great on those hot / cold days and nights at Ft. McCoy, WI during live fire exercises...
Guy is selling a M59 cooking range in Palmetto, FL and I live in mid TN (762 miles).
Wondering if someone would be passing Palmetto and coming to TN, AL or GA?
This range is in a larger alum. box and appears to be pallet size (48x48). Would fit in the bed of a pickup.
Will pay cash of course...
Hello All,
After reading horror stories of self-destructing dogbone bushings, I checked my rear axles.
There are no top dogbones on the driver side of my 5 ton. No axle u-bolts, dogbone mount, nothing...??? Right side axles have the upper dogbones and corresponding axle mounts. Both rear axles...
Anyone see this write-up and slideshow under Autos on MSN website?

Hi All,
I purchased a M149A2 Water Buffalo and am having trouble sourcing parking brake cables for it...
The NSN is 2530-00-863-5596 and part # is MS53060-6.
The cable is 60.125 inch overall length.
wbparts states it is also for a M103 trailer (chassis).
Eastern Surplus list it, but no...
Buying my first "big" truck - M925A0...
Hello All,
Been a while since I have posted...
Anyways, buying a 1986 M925A0 (or as CSM Davis told me M925 "basic" or M925A0 - thanks Jeff!) in IN and driving it back to TN while flat towing my 1986 M1009 CUCV behind it - about 440 miles each way...
I've been working on my 1986 M1031 SECM w/ Wisconsin gas and Hobart welder genset combo for last couple of months.
Problem I had was on initial startup, engine would shut-off after 5-10 seconds and would not restart without a couple of whiffs of starting fluid (please, no lectures on starting...
Wondering if any TN members are passing Exit 37 on I-65 upon return from the GA Rally and got room for a couple of 7lb each (new in the box) privacy tents I bought from Bobby (Streamline)?
David (Thundercracker) is getting them from Bobby and will bring them back his way (Huntsville), but a...
I found a place on the 'net that sells alternator and power steering belts for our CUCVs.
I put these on my newly acquired 1986 M1008 CUCV pickup and they fit perfectly with the adjustments in the "middle range" of the brackets. Can't comment on longivity, but look to be pretty good belts at a...
I acquired a 1986 M1008 CUCV pickup from a GSA auction recently. While changing out the original heater hoses, I squeezed the short coolant hose that runs between the cross-over housing and water pump fitting.
It felt "soft", so I removed it and discovered it was split (cut ?) on the backside...
Never again will I install Wellman glow plugs in my CUCVs. AC Delco and Bosch replaced the ones below...
Some of you guys have had good luck with Wellmans, not me - so no more installing them in my CUCVs.
The first batch of photos show Wellmans with 6 months and maybe 250 miles on them from my...
During a starter change-out, discovered lots of slop in the drive flange assembly.
Pulled the diff cover and water poured out plus sludge. Ebay seller and infrequent SS member said "all fluids new" in his ad - yeah, right...:x
So, looks like I need both drive pinion bearings plus seals. I'm...

I was in the CUCV forum section, typed "glo-plugs" and received 21 pages of results. After reading the first page, clicked on second page and got the above message. Clicked on the fourth page and got the same message. Went to the...
It's nice that GL is now using larger photos on many auctions - the only problem is the GL website picture viewer will not maximize to show the entire photo (one has to use horizontal and vertical sliders to view each photo).
Hey GL, can you fix that?
The seller of the M1008 bow and cover kit thinks his son can deliver it to a SS member around May 3rd ish in Richmond, VA.
Any SS members in that area?
I'm planning to go to the GA rally in Oct provided I'm not deployed OCONUS, so maybe we can met there or in VA?
A real long shot, but...
I bought a new M1008 cargo cover w/ bows kit from a guy off craigslist and he lives in Sodus, NY.

I live in middle TN, but could meet you in a neighboring state (IN, KY, AL, GA). Also could receive it at Camp Shelby, MS if someone was coming to do a recovery...
