Ok this is where we stand,
The 3rd design is at the paint shop now. We removed all of the steel mesh, and replaced it with tube steel. We now have a Spare Tire bracket as an option and Jerry can carriers as an option, both for Mil-surp steel and Scepter cans!
The rack will require drilling...

Ok so we put the 1009 up on the lift yesterday to look at the front hub issue (Pass side hub is partly locked all the time, causing the axle to turn continuously) the plastic portion you turn does not stop just goes round and round... nothing inside the hub seemed damaged but even after lubing...
Well after 497mi return trip I have the M1009 in the driveway. Made the trip from Columbus OH to Chicago and back in a day! Drove her all the way back, only issue is one hub is allowing the front shafts to rotate all the time. Vehicle has 53k on the clock and was getting 23+MPG!
