Was putzing around the shop and came up with an inexpensive and easy slave receptacle cap. Used a 1-1/4" PVC cap and Gorilla glued a strip of 220 grit cloth backed sandpaper on the inside. Fits nice and snug on the receptacle. Painted and riveted a length of paracord to the nose. Almost looks...
I have these Gin Poles, not sure what they are from. Not even sure they are military. Can anyone ID them? I thought they might have been from a K43 but I don't think they are long enough.
These are 8' long and 3" in diameter. Holes in end flanges are 1".
About 15*F out. Cold start ether system didn't seem to be working. Wore the batteries down cranking. Slaved off of my Contact Maintenance truck. Used the proper slaving procedures as outlined in the TM. Fired right up and ran just dandy!
That's all, just wanted to let you know.
No pics...
I have a tent section (wall) that needs to go to 123mack near Birmingham Alabama. Anyone headed in that direction in the near future?
It's in a box, roughly 2' X 2' X 6' and weighs about 50 pounds.
Anyone familiar with the M5 120V 3Ph generator? I'm posting for another member who has access to one. Anyone know it's non-running value?
Should he pick it up?
Well folks, i've had a nagging vibration in my M1028A1 for some time now. Vibration would start between 50 and 55 mph. Figured it was an out of balance drive shaft, but I never suspected it was the wrong drive shaft. After doing a search on drive shafts in the CUCV forums, I discovered my drive...
Saw this on Averoe's web site. Looks like you can paint like a pro!

I have two of these wheels, standard 2.5 ton bolt pattern. Never saw this type with the small holes in the rim before.
Manufactured by Badger Truck Center in Milwaukee. Both are stamped 06/08 (mfg date) & 7.5-20 (width & dia). Are these a new style 2.5 ton rim?
I'm surprised there isn't already a thread on this, but I have to ask, anyone get one, or more, of the "remanufactured" M818s out of Wright-Patt yesterday. How much did they end up selling for?
Need to find out the size of the axle spindle (bearing locknut) nuts on the M939 series trucks. I've heard the M939/M939A1 is different from the A2 and the fronts and rears are different sizes. (I do not own one yet so I cannot go measure them)
Did a search, found nothing. Checked the TMs, no...
Finally was able to install (photo is before cleaning and painting) my crane in the bed of my M35A2. This thing has a 2000lb capacity, not that I'll use it to lift that much, but was wondering how others have reinforced theirs below the bed. I did a search and only found one mention (by...
Was working on the deuce today and noticed the last five digits of the truck's serial number stamped on the right side of the rear frame crossmember. There are other digits stamped on the left side but do not match anything i'm aware of. Never noticed it before today. It does have the complete...
Repacked front wheel bearings on my 1986 M1028A1 and torqued the nuts according to the -20 TM. Afterwards I looked at the Chilton's manual and got conflicting information.
The -20 TM says to torque the inner nut to 50 ft lbs, loosen it, then re-torque to 50 ft lbs. Back the nut off lining up...
My son sent this photo of an Abrams on the move this morning in Sterling Heights Michigan
(Gotta love kids that love MVs!)
I'd like to think (DREAM) that it's on the way to my house but who knows, with all of the defense contractors in the area!
Searching previous threads, all 28 or so pages, about the 4A032 Military Standard Engine, I found a number of complaints regarding the carburetor float getting saturated with fuel and sticking, causing flooding. (I already know that Saturn Surplus has new carburetors for sale, but eventually...
Looking for the following parts for the rubberized cargo cover:
Need 10 of the plastic hooks
Need 2 of the exterior discs
Need 2 of the interior discs
Thanks!
Anyone know what causes this wear? Both outside (RR & LR) tires on the rear axle are like this. The rest of the tires are fine. I don't remember the tires being like this when I picked it up in March and have put about 50 miles on it since.
Modified my emergency air line by adding an air coupler to supply my 3/4" impact (IR 258) . I left the stock shut off valve at the frame and added another just before the gladhand.
