So I finally decided to dig into this leaking heater core but stopped the work when I realized I am probably going to destroy the soft line in the engine compartment that connects to the heater core. Since I can't get it to come off non-destructively I am going to get some heater hose before...
So yet another victim of NJ winter salt. My exhaust crossover is rusted through. What parts usually need replacing along with it(bolts, gaskets, etc)? Also what's the consensus on the cheapest replacement crossover pipe that's not complete garbage?
Thanks,
Michael
Hey guys, what's the easiest way to replace the rear caliper lines? It looks like getting to the T split is a little difficult, but that was only from a quick look.
Thanks for any helpful info
A little over a year ago I bought a 4 door conversion straight from Breton. Now 3 of the 4 tie downs for the rear flap had the spring fail and can't be tightened. Has anyone else experienced this? Seems pretty bad quality for military use parts.

Eliminating issues and I think my power steering pump is on its way out. Are there any rebuild kits or a list of parts to rebuild this thing?
Thanks,
Mike
The overly rainy weather in NJ lately has caused the inside of my truck to start smelling of mildew. Does anyone have any good tricks for dealing with mildew inside the truck? I would just spray everything down with bleach, but I don't want to bleach out the color in the seat cushions.

So, anyone else ever have their time delay module blow up during a drive? All of a sudden I had a puff of smoke by my windshield and the familiar smell of burnt electronics. Truck was a dog for the rest of the drive home because the fan was stuck on.
I haven't really been able to find an answer to this, which shock is the softest replacement for the rear (70,71,72)? One of mine decided it didn't want to keep it's fluid inside anymore, so I'm replacing both and don't want the back any stiffer than it needs to be.
Thanks,
Mike
While I was under the truck today making my usual sacrifices of blood and flesh I noticed some leaking on my transfer case. Does anyone have a quick and easy way for me to determine which transfer case I have so I can get to ordering new seals.
Thanks,
Mike
Quick question, what's the best way to remove all the black spray paint to recover the original markings? I know acetone will strip it, but will it also strip the markings? And if I do restore it, what are the legalities of driving with the markings?
Thanks,
Mike
An unexpected home expense has put a temporary hold on me getting hard doors, so I'm looking at the cheaper things I still need to add. I'm looking at the dome lights and need to know the measurements so I can mock stuff up and see which one I want to go with.
Does anyone have the measurements...
A few days ago I noticed what sounded like a tire out of balance and now one of my hubs is leaking. I'm wondering if the 2 are related. What noise have any of you witnessed when one of the bearings has gone? It's not loud, and the truck isn't shaking around, it's just that out of balance tire...
I was wondering if anyone has gotten the 4 door conversion kit that comes without doors. Mainly whether it comes with the hinges to mount on the body or not.
They were a little quick getting mine made and shipped, and I should be receiving it tomorrow. The only problem is the seller I bought...
Since the retrofit source had the morimoto sealed7 1.0 on clearance for $75 each I said what the **** and got a pair. I have used morimoto hid projectors to retrofit other vehicles with great results, but these led units left me unimpressed. Hopefully their 2.0 version is better, but I'm not...
So I was driving my 998 last night around 35 and I went to stop but quickly changed my mind and went back to the gas. When I did that I heard a weird chshhh for a second. For a second I thought a truck with airbrakes was nearby.
Was this the trans slipping, or some weird injector system noise...
Any tricks to getting the wiper blades to work well? I just replaced mine and on both sides the center of the blade isn't making good contact. I really loosened them up so they are extra floppy for now and it helped a bit, but this can't be as good as they get.
Thanks
Mike
I just bought a set of Truck Lite led floods and was wondering if anyone knew what the brackets were specifically for. I'm still figuring out where I'm going to mount them and probably won't be using the brackets, but I'm just a little curious.
Thanks,
Mike
Does anyone else have the same mental issue as me when it comes to drilling holes in their truck? If this was someone else's project truck before I got it and there were holes everywhere it wouldn't bother me, but this one is in nice shape and I can't bring myself to do it.
What ways have you...
