No start (fixed) - Charging System light on

Thank you everyone! This is such a great community and resource. That was the issue, and she fired right up after replacing it. It was either 12mm 1.5 thread or 1/2"-20. Those two looked the same and I couldn't tell them apart once I got back to the truck with them. Back on the road...

No start (fixed) - Charging System light on

We are in Ogden, Utah. After a bit of sleep and a good breakfast we came back out with fresh eyes, and I think we found the problem. The bolt attaching all the wires to the starter came off. Anyone happen to know what size that is?

No start (fixed) - Charging System light on

Yesterday, I measured 13.1 volts from the disconnect relays. The missing piece was the LBCD, which I wasn't even aware of until you and DrashStash pointed it out. It seems like that is the missing link. I am hoping there is a way to bypass that if we can determine that is indeed the problem...

No start (fixed) - Charging System light on

Hi all, I am currently stuck mid-trip and my M1078A1 will not start. I went through this earlier with a WTECIII issue, but resolved it. Now the Charging System light is illuminated and the vehicle will not start. In the 24 hours before this happened, I was intermittently losing 12v power to...

M1078 A1: No power to WTEC III

That's a great point! One reason I don't feel too bad about all the extra work is that both I and a technician who came out to look at it did just that. It was such a small crack that the pressure from the volt meter test leads must have been enough to cause the connection to bridge. He also...

M1078 A1: No power to WTEC III

Thank you all for your help!! Delayed response because I was in the process of moving, but I did get her running. I ended up re-soldering all the connections in banks J302 and J303. I found it easiest to use a brass brush to remove the silicone coating to get to the joints. Unfortunately...

M1078 A1: No power to WTEC III

Thanks everyone for your replies and help! It's the PDP. I had someone come out to help diagnose the issue, and we found out that when we pressed on the PDP on the J302 bank above the relays we would get some voltage and the transmission control panel would flicker. So now the question is to...

M1078 A1: No power to WTEC III

Skyhawk, Now that I look at the PDP again, I bet the LD2 is for 24v ignition and LD3 is for 12v ignition, since they are located right next to those bolts. Both of those lights come on when the ignition switch is applied, and I get ~24 and ~12 volts from each, respectively.

M1078 A1: No power to WTEC III

Hi all, I purchased a M1078 A1 in October of last year. I drove her from Western Washington to Northern Idaho on the Montana boarder with no issues. During the winter, I started her every two weeks and got up to operating temperature (to the point the fan turned on). A few weeks ago, when I...
