    FLU419 Transmission/Transfer case odd question

Thank you for the advise as I will probably look to you for and other for motivation. So yes this is a very good example of the SEE, fully operational now after I fixed a few things and re sealed a couple of cylinders. The process isn't what scares me as I have some worldly knowledge how to...

    FLU419 Transmission/Transfer case odd question

Well, not good news for the most part. It would appear the cascade shifter has left the chat. But while it will require transmission removal nothing seems busted yet. I will need to run it disengaged to remove the front loader and unfold the backhoe to get the cab off, presuming that the cab has...

    FLU419 Transmission/Transfer case odd question

Yes, I am sure. When it binds up you can push in the clutch and it will roll a bit, its positioned on a slight hill. I am going to pull the top front trans cover and check the cascade shift mechanism for any signs of trouble here in a bit. It just is acting weird for anything I have seen before...

    FLU419 Transmission/Transfer case odd question

Yeah, Things aren't looking so good. I haven't figured out what the common denominator is with mine. As soon as you load the gearbox in forward or reverse it binds. It was just a resistance for the first few test sessions, but now it won't move two feet, if it sits for a few minutes it unbinds...

    FLU419 Transmission/Transfer case odd question

Ok great thank you! Just out of curiosity, what was the condition that causes you to have to switch out your trans? I have an issue that seems like the trans is locking up under a load and am scared of what it could be.... Paul

    FLU419 Transmission/Transfer case odd question

Mr. Brandon34, Might be a big ask, but could you do me a favor and confirm the length and size of the bolt by passing a piece of wire (I used a TIG filler rod) through to confirm the size as well as confirming or SWAG guessing thread pitch by threading a bolt in from the front. My issue was I...

    FLU419 Transmission/Transfer case odd question

Ok, I will attempt to remove the bolt you are referring to, but I suspect that the frame cross member might prohibit it from coming out all the way in frame. The missing bolt hole just passes the top of the cross member but can't shoot the idea down without looking at it in person, so we will...

    FLU419 Transmission/Transfer case odd question

Thank you! I ordered a m10-1.5 x 140 bolt to test, but not convinced I am doing the right thing. Actually guessed at the treads based on the size or the other five, but skeptical... I really appreciate your help as well as the interest from others. Paul

    FLU419 Transmission/Transfer case odd question

Please excuse the lack of tech on my end but the hole is circled that is in question. Thank you!

    FLU419 Transmission/Transfer case odd question

Yes I have been all over the manuals. I found a reference to say that there are six of the same bolts for that cover but it can't be correct as I have ran a bore scope all through to the front clamshell bushing part for the front drive shaft tube swivel. It measures 5.5 or 140mm from the back...

    FLU419 Transmission/Transfer case odd question

Sorry for the delay on responding... First off , Thank you guys for trying to help sort this out. So in your first picture the bearing cover for the front drive shaft is slightly visible. Its the top cover bolt. I have discovered that mine passes all the way through to the front bushing (part...

    FLU419 Transmission/Transfer case odd question

Hello All, So if anyone who has rebuilt or disassembled an FLU419 transmission could help... So when I received my FLU419 and got it up and running I discovered an odd situation. The top bolt for the bearing retainer on the back of the transfer case was missing and of course I thought no big...

FLU419 Diesel engine does not shut off

Wouldn't say "Chicken", more like experienced. While I have personally only used the panic board once because of necessity it was definitely a learning experience to say don't put important body parts in there. But man am I glad I thought to have it, as this example was about to make a mess of...

FLU419 Diesel engine does not shut off

Thanks for the recommendation, I am no more at risk than anyone else now that mine is fixed, but after working on old diesel engines for some time now I was prepared to cut the air with a block off for the intake upon first start.

FLU419 Diesel engine does not shut off

Agreed that sounds like a good idea of sorts. I wasn't sure I was going to post how I fixed mine as it is now running (engine) as it should. While crude (ish) I used a brass punch and tapped the element down after removing the delivery valve. I can't say I would recommend doing this to others...

FLU 419 common issue? high idle when brought back to life. "Solved"

An update to my Unimog condition, So after digging in to trouble shoot my situation, I discovered that the #4 element in the injection pump was stuck in the up position. What this done was caused #4 cylinder a "dead hole", secondary with the element stuck caused the injection pump rack to not...

FLU 419 common issue? high idle when brought back to life. "Solved"

Good Moring all, New (ish) here, I recently purchased an FLU 419 that has been sitting for years, How Many is undetermined. The first few things I did was do a fluid check and all seemed ok. I then installed fresh charged batteries to start it. After troubleshooting the start button finding a...

FLU419 Diesel engine does not shut off

Repost if you ever figured out the cause of the issue as I recently bought an FLU419 doing the exact same thing. I suspect a common issue and we all could benefit a fix. Thanks in advance
