I had a code 83 for the TCC which was a solenoid. Good idea on unplugging it. It's been a bit of a nightmare. Three weeks ago it ran through all gears, drove fine for about a mile then went back to limp mode and locking up the torque converter.

I apologize for the lack of updates. I replaced the TCC, clean fluid etc. It doesn't work. I have first and second gear kind of. It won't downshift from a stop. I drive it and first and second are great, but then at a stop sign it starts in second. Then starts doing the torque converter lockup...

I'll give that a shot. I'm wondering if I should replace every solenoid? There is a little fluid in the connector near the tail shaft on the driver's side. Apologies, I'm not a mechanic but learning more and more. Thanks again.

This is killing me haha. I switched the TCM, pulled codes and it indicated the TCC. I replaced it, and zero improvement. In fact it's acting even stranger. First into second is fine. When I slow down it stays in second. It will not shift into third, let alone fourth. After changing the solenoid...

Pulled the codes. I have an 83 (TCC) and an 85. Could the replacement of the TCM be an issue, and can it be reprogrammed? As of now I am planning on replacing the TCC, filter and fluids. Also, when I pull the output speed sensor there is a little fluid in there. Any input is appreciated

Here is an update. After adding the transmission light and not being able to pull codes other than 12, swapped the TCM. The torque converter is not locking up anymore, and I have 1st and 2nd gears. The shift points are different. My truck is an 04 M1123. The donor TCM is an 07 M1123. Any ideas?

I did not. I was supposed to have the truck in a parade for a homecoming football game and it went south. Great advice though. I'll give it a shot when I get back into town. Does the TCM have to be year/model specific? I have access to a handful of TCMs but all different models and years.

No, only on the glow plug cycle.

Also, went through the connections at the solenoids, cleaned and added dielectric grease. Was going to add a seafome additive to the transmission fluid to see if that helps. Has anyone used this? I was thinking add that, drive it fifty miles then change the fluid. Any ideas?

I found the transmission light wiring. The original one had been broken and tucked into the frame and hidden. New light is installed and working. Tomorrow is trying to pull codes.

So far I haven't been able to diagnose the issue. The transmission light arrived, but under the truck there is not a plug in for it. Chased every wire. Odd. And now the truck is running fine cold and at temp. Any ideas? I drive it every day and don't want to be side lined with an issue.

Odd. Truck is running fine now. Granted, it's cold in the NW, but I haven't done anything other than not turn on the step down.

I will check this out. My goal is to dive into it this weekend. The truck sat for about 5 years. Had to replace the motor, but I figured there would be other things that would pop up. Hands down the most fun vehicle I've ever had.

Also, when the truck is cold everything works great. At about 160 degrees or operation temp it goes into limp mode.
