I finally got them on. The belts that fit my deuce, as often recommended here, are the Napa 25-9470. Those belts are 47.25 or 47.38 in length, depending on which Napa source you check.
My original belts, the Dayco 5-3634, were about the same size. The Napa 25-9476 is a little longer to make...
Is there a trick to changing the fan belts?
I followed the advice in this post - http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?2249-Belt - and got the Goodyear 17461 belts. Those are only 46" belts and I can't see getting those belts on the pulleys unless I took the front of the truck off an used...
The image above is identical to the speedo adapter I have for my deuce, and that one came off a truck with 11x20's the Army put on. I haven't tried to install it on my deuce yet, so I can't offer any advice there, but I can tell you NSN 2520-00-404-3098 is also in the mil-veh archives as the...
I made mine too, since no one had them locally and I needed to get the job done. A 4 sided box welded to an old socket isn't pretty, but it only takes 10 minutes and works just fine.
A torque multiplier...I learn something new every day. A bit expensive though.
I just noticed this old auction HERE. If you think about the way it works, it's really a great idea. I don't know how it actually performs in the real world, but the concept is awesome.
On to impact guns...
I wondered the same thing about the rear duals. I let it go thinking they might have been testing front super-singles only, or maybe he was referring to two rear singles as duals?
The exploding brake thing sounded strange too, isn't the contact area of a pair of dual 9x's about the same as a...
This is the original text from the mil-veh list back in '99, took me a while to find it!
In 1969, I was regular army, and got assigned to an AMC (Army Materiels
Command back then) unit at Camp Pickett Va, for the very first testing of
super singles on 2 1/2 ton trucks. The agency responsible...
I remember reading somewhere that military trials of super-singles on deuces resulted in damaged suspension components, brake destruction, etc.
Can you safely put big tires like these on an unmodified deuce?

I have a couple of Selectro locking hubs I thought I'd put on my Deuce but I noticed something with them I don't like.
The guts of the locking mechanism are retained on the inside by a snap ring. It's nothing more than a curved round wire, and it doesn't even fit completely into the groove of...
What's the trick to putting these boots on?
Every time I try to turn the boot inside out so I can put the inner band on, it pops right back to it's original shape. The rubber seems too springy to stay folded back/inside out.
How do you keep the boot inside out while you place it and tighten...
