Well...the tranny went last night in my M1009

OK - new wrinkle. Maybe this means something to someone out there who can relay it to me.... Started truck again today to drive it around a bit and see if I still had the same issues. I went out after about 20 mins and I have the same problem, no gears, nothing. Then I remembered that...

Well...the tranny went last night in my M1009

Jimmy-90 - I know about the guy in Chantilly. I bought the truck from him!! Spoke to him yesterday and he seems to think it may be a vacuum hose issue or modulator problem. I am dropping it off to him to check out today. Costs me $100 to check it out maybe $100-200 to change out the...

Thanks guys. That is why I love this site. I thought they were smoking something, but had nothing to compare the quote to.

Well...the tranny went last night in my M1009

Just ran out and let the thing warm up for about 30 mins and checked the fluid again. Smells a little funny, but not burnt by any means. Still red in color (not brown). So I throw it in drive to see if anything has changed and the f-in thing is moving again. I have all the gears and it pulls...

Well...the tranny went last night in my M1009

Just wanted to get a little info from you guys before I bring it in to AAMCO. Finished plowing my driveway last evening and all of a sudden I was stepping on the gas and the RPMs were going up but I wasn't really going anywhere. Limped it over to the driveway and there she sits. Funny...

    Snow plow......specifics.....

I have a Blizzard 760LT on my M1009. Stock Chevy mount. Just barely rubs the sway bar on the passenger side. Nothing on the drivers side. Truck is the perfect plow truck. Diesel, 2 batts, heavy duty, tight turning radius. I have seen a lot of other plow brands on them (Meyer, Fisher, Boss...

High pitch whine sound from driver rear tire area.... help

OK boys....It was the U-joints. One was cracked and causing the sound. Replaced both on the rear drive shaft and now she is perfect again. Except for the 1-2" sag on the passenger front leaf spring. I got a price from a really good spring shop here for $550 installed for two new sets for...

High pitch whine sound from driver rear tire area.... help

It is not brake related(at least from the standpoint of me hitting brake and sound stopping/starting). It stops when I put any torque on it (step on the gas) or if I let off the gas. If I am cruising (30-60 mph) it happens. Step on gas, noise subsides. Let off gas and cruise a bit and the...

    Winter Tires

I put a set of Kuhmo Road Venture AT's on mine for last winter (through the blizzards we had in the DC area). They were great. Plowed with them and never got stuck. Pulled about 20 other guys out through the 3 storms we had. Not too expensive and have been great! :D

High pitch whine sound from driver rear tire area.... help

High pitch whine sound from driver rear tire area.... Sound started a few weeks ago. Very intermittent. It has become a common sound now. It goes away when I hit the gas or let off the gas. It is very strange and I need a little "online diagnosis" before I bring it to my guy. Gotta...

    My rhino-lined m1009

Yeah, but the rhino-liner is thicker and more rubbery. I have been going back and forth on doing the interior on mine for ease of cleaning and soundproofing. Guy in town said $450 for the entire floor area and up to the windows in back...

    Thinking of selling the M1009....

The truck was a beast all winter. We had two events over 2 feet and it was the snowiest winter on record for Wash DC going back as far as record keeping goes (we beat out 1899 by at least 6 inches). The truck plowed most of the time with about 500lbs ballast (sandbags) in the back. That...

    Thinking of selling the M1009....

Agreed. M1008 is better. But I already have a pickup so I was thinking the Blazer could be more fun the rest of the year. I probably only put 500 miles on it last year with the plowing and all! Plus the trannys in these are better than most out there today. The trucks do need to be...

    Thinking of selling the M1009....

2 answers: 1. In this forum for guys who don't do snowplowing too much, I can see your point. But to find a rig built like these with the low mileage, ease of repair and the fact that mine was one of the only trucks in our 40 truck fleet that did not have any problems with the 2 blizzards...

    Thinking of selling the M1009....

I know this isn't the classifieds forum, but I'm not sure I want to sell it yet. I have an 86 with 55k on it. Four new Kumho All Terrains on it and also the spare. Everything works. Added a stereo with CD player and ipod jack with 2 Alpine speakers. Has a 7.5' Blizzard snowplow on it. Used...
