ATF in hubs, but intercooler not damaged. How?

ATF Vampire... [LINK] Stop driving the truck immediately... tow it back to the shop... if they're a Hummer dealer, they should've know about this issue.

AM General to offer civilian HMMWV "kit car"

Not in the literal sense... the base vehicle is now the M1097A2, and the old 998 is now the M1123. Same outside appearance... upgraded frame, engine, and transmission. The AM General website has a full listing of the models they currently offer... they're divided into A2, ECV, and REV classes.

AM General to offer civilian HMMWV "kit car"

The frame and body of an H1 is not the same as the frame and body of an REV HMMWV... the current HMMWVs have 3-piece framerails so they can be replaced and repaired in sections... as well as heavier-duty airlift towers. The bodies also have sections cut out in the rear to accommodate the...

AM General to offer civilian HMMWV "kit car"

The Hummer H1 and the current HMMWV differ in frame and body... AMG stopped making the civilian H1 several years ago... the article cited said: This, to me, seems to imply they can release a HMMWV kit just fine... but not a H1 kit. Everything is speculation until a sample truck is rolled...

AM General to offer civilian HMMWV "kit car"

I'll be very interested to see what type of frame and body they're going to use... the H1 assembly line has been shut down for several years, and GM isn't letting AMG use any parts unique to the H1 anyway... I'd be very interested if they end up using the REV frame and body. $60k for an M1165...

AM General to offer civilian HMMWV "kit car"

The biggest variable I see with these kits is going to be the title/registration process. As incomplete vehicles without a drivetrain, these kits are not going to have VIN #s, since the VIN identifies specific features on a vehicle that these won't ship with. Actual HMMWVs built to .gov...

    LEO + Municipal HMMWV Mods

I've heard this claim made before, but have never seem any documentation or written policy to back it up. Certain items may fall under US Customs ITAR regulations, but gov't property sold legitimately as surplus becomes the property of the private party who purchases it. I remember when Big 5...

    LEO + Municipal HMMWV Mods

I thought the Atlanta/Riverside USMC trucks were sold off without EUCs... that was the whole reason they were sold; the Marines gave them to BAE Systems without EUCs because the original plan was to export them to foreign buyers... when that sale fell through, BAE had no stipulation preventing...

can you get a rolling HMMWV chassis?

There have been several rolling chassis up for sale on eBay recently... all from Army Trucks, Inc. which is a motion picture rental company.

    what are these wires for

I have 2 .pdf TMs that cover the M1113: The old 1998 TM 9-2320-387-24P, which covers the M1113 & M1114, and the 2002 replacement version that covers the M1113 to the M1165. I can send them to you if you know a way to email 20MB documents... :-?

No problem... here's a bit more detailed write-up I did going through my process: [LINK]

where is the best place to title a humvee

California DMV and CHP are surprisingly easy to deal with actually... just have CHP assign it a VIN so the DMV computer can create a point of origin and you're good to go. Ex-military vehicles don't scare them... it's the lack of a 17-digit VIN that has to be addressed so the computers can...

AZ will not title HMMWVs as of today

Anyone still have a copy of that letter they could scan and upload? Would be nice to have that floating around here instead of that useless AM General letter.

AZ will not title HMMWVs as of today

    - No padding on the dashboard - Non-collapsing steering column - Inadequate safety restraints - No rollover-protection - No reverse lights - No park setting on the transmission Those are just some of the ones I've heard of...

AZ will not title HMMWVs as of today

It's also an 11 year-old letter... so even if there was a DMV that took it as law, it's not like they've got HMMWV owners walking in every day and the letter would probably be buried in a file cabinet somewhere.

AZ will not title HMMWVs as of today

A lot of people seem to feel that letter has some sort of legislative standing... it doesn't. That is a legal CYA response letter from a private corporation to the Connecticut DMV. All it says is that AM General never intended HMMWVs to be in civilian hands, and that they do not condone HMMWVs...

AZ will not title HMMWVs as of today

Try another DMV before you throw in the towel... Los Angeles DMV office told me basically the same thing last year... Placerville DMV and CHP didn't bat an eye and titled/registered it without issue.

where is the best place to title a humvee

I'm gonna put this in big letters so that nobody makes the mistake a couple other members and I did: DO NOT USE THE ABOVE COMPANY (MAINE-LY TITLE)... THEY CANNOT TITLE MILITARY VEHICLES ANYMORE, WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY, AND WILL OUTRIGHT IGNORE YOUR CALLS FOR 8 MONTHS UNTIL YOU EITHER SUE THEM, OR...

    Hmmwv serial # location ?

Well I'll be... Just checked the door pillar on my ex-Army HMMWV... it has "US ARMY (Registration #)" in painted-over raised decals.

where is the best place to title a humvee

Maine won't title military vehicles anymore... nor will Vermont. Those were the two states that 98% of those title companies went to since they would title older vehicles for non-residents with only a bill of sale. Both states stopped doing that back in 2010... likely related to the adoption...
