Top hat bearing cap torque after ARB install? (bearing preload tool idea too!)

I've been using this as a guide to torques: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?87548-ARB-Air-Locker-RD145-Install-Thread- Pics-and-Tips&p=1123261&viewfull=1#post1123261 300 ft-lbs seems a lot for Grade 8 9/16 bolt? I'm getting a different spec from these sources...

How much torque on these bolts that hold the Rockwell ARB halves to the bull gear?

ARB says to use factory spec. Can't find a spec for this in a Rockwell. Can't find it in the TM's for the Deuce either. They seem to be grade 7 http://www.mazdabg.com/ftp-uploads/Mazda/--Repair%20Instructions--/2001%20Mazda%20Tribute/chiltonimages/8000/88523g03L.jpg 9/16 shank...

Need new bullgear. Mine has been apparently been sitting in water at some point.

I'm not sure if I should put this in the deuce or drivetrain section. I removed my center section to change out a side gear and found past evidence of water sitting in the housing for what must have been an extended period of time and some pitting on the bullgear. It runs smoothly and there...

Does anyone know who makes this "shaved rockwell pinion cover"?

I don't get how that cover works... Isn't there a bearing on both ends of that pinion shaft when both drive flanges are in place? This cover gets rid of one some way? Does anyone have a link to whoever makes that cover and how it works? I'd love to get rid of one drive flange and it's seal...

Axle fluid level in reference to surface mount of third member...?

Here's a picture of my third member installed in my custom slightly different housing: The housing does not have a conventional drain. It fills in a tapped hole in the mounting plate of the third member. You can see it off to the right in the picture.... How high should the oil level be to...

Who won the M36A3 in Wisconsin!?!

That thing looked beautiful and perfect in every way!!! Seems like it went for a steal with 700 something hours and 7000 something miles. Even the tires looked new. Drove in too! I'm already suffering from why didn't I bid-itis...

    12V tap off of batteries?

Is there any reason you couldn't get useable 12V by just tapping across either one of the batteries? The batteries as they sit in the truck are in parallel giving 24V from one end to the other, but they're still 12V across either set of terminals. Is there any huge issue with a battery being...

Help to inspect M35A2 lots in Clearfield, UT? Auction May4-6

Thanks to an encouraging talk with a member here last night I am thinking of attempting my first auction. I'm a couple of states away so doing a prebuy inspection is impossible before the auction starts on the 4th. Is there someone that can look at my top two or maybe the top four choices if the...

Newb thinking of buying Deuce in CA to haul 4x4. Historical Reg issues?

I've done a search and haven't found exactly the info I'm looking for. I am thinking of buying my first MV, a Deuce. I've been talking to 100dollarman about getting one of his 2's or maybe a 3. My idea is to get some ramps and use it to haul my 4x4 on the bed to various offroading areas...
