I thought of that, but I figured it would be safer to have to winch to lower OFF the trailer once I got to a mechanic :-) Besides, I've been needing a good excuse to put a winch on my flatbed trailer, anyway.

I'll crawl back under the beast and look for leaks, and check the air lines.
Pumping up the brakes does NOT increase the pressure, and I hear no air noises on either a down-stroke or an up-stroke of the brakes.
The frame is a 1964, but I believe the truck is a chimera of at least two different...
Already called Lynn...he can look at it if I get it working, but otherwise I have to flat bed it out to him.
I was hoping to find someone to come out to the ranch and look at it. Not looking for a freebie, just need to find someone who knows how to work on a Deuce.

Yep, bled the airpack first...seemed to take forever to get rid of the air bubbles. Put in about 70-75 oz of fluid and almost all of it came out the bleeding hose with bubbles in it (at least 60 oz in the jug).
I'd have expected that a major leak would have presented itself during the...
I did it the old fashioned way (no power bleeder). My wife played the part of soldier #2.
It worked just fine for several months when I first got it. Came back from vacation and it was bone dry (it sat unused for 1 month).
My mechanical expertise is robots, not vehicles, so this is my first...
I seem to have a leak somewhere in my brake system, or a failure in the air cylinder.
I have already replaced the brake fluid as per the TM (used approximately 110 oz of DOT5 to get all the air bubbles out of the air cylinder and all 6 brake lines), but I sill have no braking action and the...
It was great meeting you all last night. I got a few pix of Ed's gun truck, but the meeting ran too long to talk afterwards.
The good news is that my Deuce made it all the way into town and back without any trouble (total of 60 miles). The bad news is that I have a water pump or thermostat...
Just got off the phone with Danny K, and I'm all set...see you guys Wednesday evening. I'm bringing the truck along. Just wonder how much driving time to allow from Liberty Hill (48 mph is less than I normally drive).
I'm curious as to what kind of engine I *really* have, since the whole 1964...
The meeting's this Wednesday? The web site says 8/21, and I already have a message in to Danny K for security access.
I was hoping to bring my truck in to the next meeting, be it Wednesday or Saturday.
Also sending in my Lonestar Membership app this afternoon.
Hope to see you at the next...
Well, the Tax Collector's office was a breeze... and the truck is registered as an FMV using the last six digits of the Army registration number as the Texas Registration number (so 4E65370 becomes E65370 in their computer).
The nice lady at the tax office had never done an FMV, but after...
As an Eagle Scout, I never cut corners with the IRS or the DMV.
My memory is just not good enough to tell a lie... then you have to remember what you told everybody :-)

Let's see what the state of Texas says tomorrow, and whether Steve gets back to me with an explanation of the discrepancy.
I can also call DRMS and see what their records say.

Steve at MREDepot did the paint (and stencils), and listed the truck on eBay. I thought that MREDepot *was* Govt. Liquidation, because that's who signed the paperwork over to me after the eBay auction.
The VIN listed by DRMS was the one that said 1973, and matched the paperwork from Govt...
