    SHC35 heater starting problems

Figured I would post the solution for the next guy. I started with the relays that Ziggy mentioned in the beginning when I first had problems. I de-soldered them from the board and checked them with a battery and a meter. Both worked. One relay controls the power to the fans and takes signals...

    SHC35 heater starting problems

Im not sure if you ever solved this but I have the same exact problem. 2 heaters were working when put away 3 years ago. Now I have the same issue you described above. The main odd symptom is the buzzing from the power control board relays when you turn down the set knob. I have swapped...

    Choctaw H140 heater cycles a lot.....normal?

Same thing happened to me last year. I chased it for a while but it ended up being the ignitor. The transformer itself is in a metal box with 2 tubes that extend into the combustion housing(the high tension ignitor wires are in these tubes). At first I thought it was the noise supression circuit...

    Ferret Gearbox dipstick

The dip stick is NOT threaded. But I have seen people rip the top part off (contains the air space for the breather) by trying to yank out a stuck dipstick. Be careful :)

    Troubleshooting M1010 fuel-fired heater?

I have a few of these types of units and while some are grumpy about starting and one likes to smoke before it starts, they all work. The dry wick pretty much proves you don't have power at the solenoids or you don't have fuel pressure to push fuel through them. I don't like taking these units...

    Troubleshooting M1010 fuel-fired heater?

Are you getting 24v DC to the the solenoids? You should be able to hear them click as well when in the start position. They wont have voltage in the RUN position until the unit fires and the light comes on. My guess from your description is that they arent getting energized. Either a problem...

    Choctaw H140 heater cycles a lot.....normal?

Its normal operation. There is a sensor in the front of the outlet that controls the on/off based on outlet air temp. Back when I was trying to figure this out I bypassed that sensor to see if it would just stay on like my older unit did. With the sensor disabled, it did indeed stay on and not...

    Rough idle, now dead

Are you getting the "click" from the top of the pump when you turn on the key? If the pump is new(and still working) the shut off solenoid is where I would look. First check for 12v with key on. Then remove and reattach the wire and listen for the click. It should sound loud and clear. If its...

    Choctaw H140 heater cycles a lot.....normal?

Mine came with an issue from GL that I had to fix but if yours was working fine before I don't think it applies unless you dropped or hit the unit hard. In my case the heater would start and run but then once warm it would cycle off normally but then wouldn't restart. Sometimes I got the flame...

    Choctaw H140 heater cycles a lot.....normal?

What kind of fuel is in it? Mine hates anything but clean diesel. Also, whats the fuel pressure when its running?

    Choctaw H140 heater cycles a lot.....normal?

Did this unit work normally before or is the first time you are using it?

    Smoke Grenade Gauge Pod

I have gotten a few questions on where I got the grenades. I searched ebay and the forums and found mostly over priced burnt up ones without pins and spoons. The best source I found was a guy at Aberdeen this year. He had a lot of them in great condition that were in the original paper...

    Smoke Grenade Gauge Pod

Lol, no patent :) I am sure this group will improve the idea! I used fired ones. Once I cut the bottom hole I cleaned out all the residue. It seems like it burned straight down the center with a burn track about 1/2 inch wide. The rest of the inside was hard burnt crust that smelled like...

    Smoke Grenade Gauge Pod

So I have been looking for a way to mount the pyro in my M109 for a while. I have seen a lot of custom enclosures and some of them are really nice but I wanted something different. So, I started looking around for military items that were similar size to the gauge. Enter the M83 Smoke grenade...

    Southwind heater parts source?

I have a Southwind 978m 20k btu heater that needs the soft parts in the fuel regulator. Does anyone know a source for the large diaphragm in the regulator? Any help would be much appreciated!! This is the heater thats in the M109 shop trucks and lots of the shelters....

    Choctaw H140 heater cycles a lot.....normal?

Perfect, thanks so much for responding. Hearing someone else has one doing the same thing makes me feel like its just the design.

    Choctaw H140 heater cycles a lot.....normal?

Nope, does the same thing without tubes hooked up....its odd for sure.

    Choctaw H140 heater cycles a lot.....normal?

I started using my H140 and I have noticed that it cycles often. It fires right up and then stays lit for about 3 mins, then shuts down for 1 min. Rinse and repeat. Ducts on or off makes no difference. It's not a flame out, no red light. It just shuts off fuel. My guess is the max outlet temp is...
